I remade my wooden flying saucer over the red rocket near sanctuary just to get away from the auto-accepting of missions and BS assignments from spending time in there. Preston is about two forced quest updates from a sniped .50 from half a click out

Lulz. If you run away as soon as you get the xp for the turned in quest he doesnt give ylu another. He hasnt given them to me in passing by yet at least either.

I wanted the castle to be the main but that stupid radio they constantly are putting out drove me nuts and it would auto update quests as well.

The consoles hve a height building limit so i dont think my base would fit above red rocket all the way

Yea, I was getting auto-assigned 'talk to the settlers' and 'go help settlement_x' quests from walking down the street

Now, it's just me at the Rocket. I have 1 settler that does nothing but maintain a trade connection. Nothing at ground level besides the workbench. No food/water. The only way in is via fast travel. Drop from saucer to rocket roof is a hair over two stories...I tested it as as far up as I can be without taking any falling damage when I hit the roof.

I'm not gonna spoiler shit here. But...I completed "The Molecular Level" last night and ...

... took the next step... in dealing with the Institute.

Mind. Blown. Did NOT see that coming.

Nice! I jumped off just after I completed the machine last night. I'll be heading in when I get home from work!

Uh, have a block of time handy. Don't go in and start if you know you have to leave in 30 minutes.

    just a heads-up

Thanks! Any other tips? Should I wear power armor? Certain weapons?

    Honestly? And without spoilering...

I went in with my normal 'field gear' set (modded combat armor and handed weapons). This was more than sufficient.

You have time to re-gear along the way, if you want, before the... shall we say, the next task. At least, I did.

If you wanted to though, you could go in with your power armor and start shooting at the first face you see. I didn't, but you could. If you did that, you'd have your hands very, very full. I don't know if you'd win out or not in that fight. Probably, eventually. Depends on how good a shot you are, how much ammo you brought, and how lucky you got with crits.

I ended up not firing a shot, but that's only one possible story arc, I think.

Yeah, I went in NOT firing. There's lots to see and do!

    As for the plot...

    images_d8ff8077c740ddf38d59a80d67bfceeae196f5f6.jpg

BTW it only gets better. Whichever path you choose the interactions, and the storyline ending narrative justifying them, show this to be the greyist game in the Fallout series under Bethesda. Too bad the whole dark and deep storyline angle is ruined by the manner the game is presented in, my humble opinion of course.

    Yes it is.

If it is good or bad, I think, would depend on the film in question. Are we talking 'the 6th sense' or 'the happening'?

    Yes it is :).

It could be good... or bad... or a twist... with some good and bad... dammit you are dragging to much information into the open and I wanted it to be vague and nebulous...

I mean it's still a good story, I think it goes downhill from that point, but it's still a good story with multiple outcomes.

I finished the game last night. Pretty cool, but I expected a little more. I feel like I shouldn't have been able to complete every side mission, build elaborate settlements, and finish the main story in under 60 game-playing hours.

I'm going to start a new game tonight and eventually align myself differently to experience one of the other endings.

Ive been doing plenty of that. The railroad quests werent very interesting to me. BoS i like the most except for the fact some sidequests cause the settlements to unfriend.

I have a save file ready just in case i want to switch how i ended the game.
Should have saved before making the deciding decision. Then you wouldnt have to restart. I wouldnt want to restart after all the work in leveling ive put in.

I did save. Plenty of times. I just like to start fresh. There are a lot of things I would have done differently throughout the game that I'd like to replay. I'm also going to do it on hard this time because regular was a cake walk.
