Faulty TRS Projector??

Unless I'm missing something, it's called a fore-ground limiter. It was added to the most recent version of the mini H1 projectors. It can be removed from the projector if you wish. I'll see if I can find the link that explained it from HID Planet.
From TRS's website:Foreground cutoff The definition of the beam pattern projected on the ground directly in front of a car. Determined by a the foreground cutoff shield if applicable. The shape can usually be modified to your liking.

Curious as to why they added that..

 

I think it's because they don't want pedestrians or small animals walking in front of the truck to be blinded.

Fortunately, that's not the reasoning. The reasoning is the way your eyes focus or adjust to light. If are on a dark road and there's a big bright spot right in front of your vehicle, you tend to focus on that rather than up ahead where you should be looking. What they did is put a foreground cutoff so that area is dark meaning you can focus on the lit up area further up the road and see what you're actually driving towards. This is the same reason you shouldn't drive with your fog lights on at night (unless in foul weather when they're needed) and also why it's easier on your eyes to dim your instrument panel display at night on dark roads.

 

Ahhh I see. Makes sense. I for one like as much light as possible.. without blinding people of course. I use my projectors (older version, no foreground cutoff) plus my foglights. But that's just me.
