Febest tensioner pulley

I think most people know about the

FEBEST 0187-GRJ200 Idler Pulley that is available for the tensioner pulley, rather than having to buy the entire Gates tensioner just to rob the pulley off it. I used the entire Gates kit on my 4Runner and the white Tacoma about two years ago and they are still going strong. However, on my daughter's silver Tacoma, I used Gates for the three idlers and went with the Febest for the tensioner pulley about six months ago.

2,000 miles later and it's squealing again. I replaced it with a Gates today and everything is quiet again. I wonder if anybody else who has gone with a Febest has had better luck? I sure wish Gates would sell that pulley all by itself...

 

A lot of people just replace the bearing in the stock pulley. Pretty easy job, all you need is a c-clamp and the edge of a table. Just take your old bearing to an industrial parts house and they'll get you hooked up. Most any town with an industrial/factory district will have at least one of these kinds of stores.

 

Yeah, I know about the Nachi bearing. Just a heads up and question about other Febest users.

 

I am currently running a Febest pulley with Nachi bearing. Only been about 5k miles but so far, so good!
