I don't think it's stupid, I think it's pretty smart myself. Every flashlight I've kept in my trucks has pretty much always been dead when needed and I get sick of trying to keep batteries in them. Therefore I have a wind up in my center console. It is a 3 led. Does what I need it to do. Hell, even if you need to have a huge Maglite or whatever kind, why not have one of these for back up? Small and never have to worry about the battery. Now maybe over time it will die I'm sure. :notsure: Haven't had it that long. But it was cheap. Even got one for my wife's car for like $2 through my Coke Rewards program. Laugh and thash me if you want, I don't care, I like my little flashlight.

Mag lights are pretty reliable. If you get a 3D you can store for a pretty long time. I just bought a 3D led, pretty good (no one seems to know what they did with the old 3D regular ligh bulb). The new one stays in my truck.
