I don't mind rivets. Would prefer welds, but rivets are easier to modify in the future.

Do you (or anyone else) have detailed shots of the hitch most companies are using?

I need a hitch, but want it to be as high as possible to clear rocks/shenanigans. My current high clearance rear bumper puts the hitch in line with the frame rails.

What do you mean? From what i can tell, the BF bed has a hitch set to OEM height, which is a little below the frame rails

Okay, that's what I was expecting.

So if I wanted the hitch to stay up and out of the way, I'd have to make a custom one that bolts into the frame.

Wow. Now that is interesting. Looks like stainless steel, unless oxidized aluminum was used there. But super thin to be aluminum.. That's the under structure of the deck... And then it looks riveted to the deck floor. Which tells me in must be stainless. I can see how they made it a universal mounting system which is smart.

If you have a second or third gen, there's some high clearance hitches on the market already for your truck that bolt on. Not rated for towing, but give you greater clearance.

Not sure how it is on a 2nd gen, but on the first gen it wouldn’t be hard to make end plates that relocate the factory hitch up higher since it’s all bolted together. They can also be flipped.

I just ended up building a bumper with a receiver welded in, should be fine for my very limited towing needs.

I think lethal customs makes the best looking trays on the market.

I'm selling my F250 6.7 and getting back into a Tacoma. No need for a diesel any more. I am going with a MT 4.0 trd dcsb, then will install a 6 foot ute bed on it, powder coated in semi gloss black. Here is my ute bed now.16720757668167450620205596905611.jpg
