Anyone ever disassembled a set of Fox 2.5 with reservoir coil overs? How do you get the springs off? I have some new springs to put on but don't want to get going until I know how to take these bad boys apart.

Sorry to hit an old thread but I was also wondering how to for the same reason. Did you ever figure it out?

I did. I took it to the local off road shop and paid. I couldn't get a coil compressor in to th spring to compress it. They knocked it out in a few hours and had them rebuilt. Much smoother ride with the 14" 600# eibach springs.

Thanks! I was hoping to do it myself since I can't find a shop to work on them and they weigh a lot to ship. May call Fox and see what I can do.

Just did this tonight and a shop is not needed. Just pull the coilovers and get a pair of spring compressors from an auto store (rent). They don't fit perfect, but good enough in between the coils and alternate between the two compressors (180 degrees apart). Eventually the spring will compress and you can loosen the adjustment ring. Spin the ring up all the way and decompress the coils. Then push the bottom spring seat down (towards the springs) and beneath that will be two semi-circle seat retainers and a rubber gasket. Remove those and slide the spring seat over the shaft. Now you can remove the spring. Do it all in reverse to install the new springs. No need to pay a shop as it is simple, just a bit sketchy with the compressors.

No problem, I was tempted to take it to a shop, but they would have charged me way too much for 20 min of work. PM me if you have any additional questions or need my number when the time comes.

SCRunner: good on you brother. I felt real unsure with what I was rigging up. I think I should have watched the shop do it to instill some confident for the next time...hopefully there isn't a next time though
