    This is incorrect.

Your lift and tires have 0 effect on the rust factor of the frame.

Now if you installed sliders or reinforced the frame, and didn't coat the bare metal/welds after you were done, and your frame rotted at the mounting points... They may void your warranty (because you're an idiot and didn't re-coat - therefore your negligence caused the problem!)

Basically it comes down to they have to prove that your actions (lift+tires) caused the excessive rust on the frame... which wouldn't happen.

Rear the sticky. Lots of quality info in there.

They will reinstall your old shocks if you want to keep them but I bought new (F/R).
    Same labor (free).

What time frame did Toyota give to have this done? I'm getting a 2002 on Tuesday.

When they had the needed parts, they called me.

I dropped it off Tues. morning, dropped in each day to take pictures.
I also gave the mechanic a camera to take pictures when I wasn't there.
Monday morning to take more pictures but the truck was in the parking lot, DONE!
He worked 4 days and did a perfect job. Never had to go back for anything.

I did but new shocks as the labor was free. (They have to remove the old shocks if you want them but it's easier to just junk the old shocks and replace with new.
    It also helps the mechanic.

While the drivetrain was out, I had them replace the clutch (100,000 miles). Less labor.

My 05 is in as we speak its been a couple of weeks they said they would replace frame shocks leaf springs and lines etc. Had a week sweating bullets while it was being ok'd by Toyota but after the green light they gave me a brand new truck and said it would be about a month. I guess the biggest problem is getting the parts. Kinda surprised how easy it all was. I urge you guys to get your trucks in. I was amazed my truck had holes in the frame i rust proofed it every year.

I have a 2005 and live in Ontario Canada and took it in for the rust inspection they found holes in the frame and after a week of sweating they said they would replace it. So far its been a month with no word they did give me a brand new dodge for a loaner I was told they are going to replace the frame shocks break lines and leaf springs of which one was broken. Guess it takes a while to get the parts and looking forward to the end result....

Just found a hole in my frame so taking it to Toyota today. Hoping they will still cover it. Any of you had sliders welded on? How did they handle that?

If youre in an area that is under coverage for the replacements they'll surly know about. They will have done lots im sure. But if you didnt know its not nation wide, just certain states.

I am in an area that hasn't done them. The truck though is originally from Michigan.

I looked up service record. It was inspected in 2010. It has the spray under it but it's not on the record. Not sure what they will say about that. I'm afraid I may be purchasing a frame!

If it was inspected and passed it should have been coated unless the previous owner said no to the coating. If it was coated, then you should be covered. Not sure why there was no record of coating even though there was a record of inspection.

Hello all. I am new to the Tacoma Forum and not really a long term Tacoma owner. Always wanted one and I have had lots of other Toyotas from a Celica to a Tundra. I finally bought an 05 Tacoma about 8 months ago and I love it! But I just had it inspected and it needs a frame replacement, and I'm terrified. I am going to go through with it because it seems ridiculous not to, but I'm worried about how the truck will handle and other service problems after the replacement. Any advice or recommendations?

Check out this thread, has more second gen specific frame replacement discussions. I wish I could give you any advice but I'm still waiting on a frame. My only advice is when you take it in ask for a truck if you know you need a truck in the meantime since the wait can be 4 months+.

I just had mine done and have had zero issues. Of course, the repair is only as good as the tech makes it.
I would look over everything extensively and make sure it all is good and drives straight. Any issues, take it back!
