It looks like my frame may be denied due to the fact the previous owner drilled a few holes in the frame to mount the rear bumper :/ They found a hole up on the driver side near the catalytic converter which should be enough to fail too... The service manager is trying to push for it though, he wants the job.

Greetings all! Just found out I'm getting a new frame. I have the option to purchase my own shocks, and have the dealer install them. Currently have the bilsteins that came with the TSB, and would like to replace with the same. Does anyone have a recomendation as to the cheapest place I can find these? I'd like both front and rear. Also, is there a specific part number for these? Thanks for your help.

I've read posts here where Toyota has had to replace rear shocks on their dime due to breaking them when removing them for the swap.

Check the buy and sell. You may find some inexpensive take-offs.

I actually got the recall notice that my vin number was on both the frame recall and the leaf recall. But they tell me that because my leafs are not "broke", only completely dead and useless, I can't get TSB springs, and have to wait another possible year for the recall springs to be released.

TSB and spring recall are different things. I think Florida is towards the bottom of the list for spring replacement. You should try a different dealer for the frame. It seems hit and miss with some doing almost every one that comes in and others trying every way they can think of to get out of it. Just FYI up here the frame inspection was done with a hammer on a lift. They hit it in the most likely spots and when the hammer goes through it's failed. If it doesn't they spray some sort of anti corrosion stuff on. I beleive it states that in the limited service campaign letter you have for the frame. While I'm waiting for my frame to be replaced they are forcing me to drive a 4runner limited edition.

When the frame swap is done, do any of the components involved in a wheel bearing replacement get removed? I was wondering if I should have my bearings done, and ask for a discount, when my frame is swapped.

My dealer has my frame, they have had it for more than a week, they are still waiting on the "bolt package" according to my service rep.

I stopped by to put my new Bilsteins in my truck, and was surprised to find it unlocked. I brushed off the snow, put the shocks in the cab, but a new exhaust in the bed, and hung out for a few minutes. Nobody questioned what I was doing. I locked my truck back up, I hope my shocks don't turn up missing.

Diana I don't believe the bearings are covered however they should be fairly easy to do with the front and hanging when they swap it. I would call the service rep explaign your concern and see what they would charge you considering the truck will already be tore down it shouldn't be to much more labor wise .

I would have said it was not physically possible to drill a hole in the Frame near the cat from the rear bumper !!!! Now that is funny ....

Yeah, it's bullshit, here's hoping Toyota decides to be nice about it. But he told me as soon as you cut/weld/modify the frame at all, it's not covered for anything, which is pretty dumb. The sliders are welded on, but Toyota didn't ask about them and they didnt send in pictures of them. I guess if they have any reason to deny and save $13k, then I guess they will. Frame is still solid and will last a long time, but it's got the rot and should be replaced... Not the end of the world, I got a great deal on the truck, but it would have been pretty sweet to get a new frame :D

I read something about that earlier, but that's in the states. You'd think Canada has something similar. Hmm, I may have to fight them on this then if they deny it.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds
Yeah that's bull shit because I cut my front frame horns off, welded my sliders to my frame, and drilled holes for my t-case skid. I'm still getting a new frame. Also I tried to get to my truck on a weekend just to see it and it was behind locked gates. Gonna see it when I drop off my extended rear brake line I want them to install when the truck is getting worked on.

Bolt package arrived and my frame swap is underway. Dealer is installing my provided Bilsteins and exhaust at no charge. My alternator was bad, I sourced one myself and the charge for installation is about $120, not too bad. My battery was bad when I brought my truck in, but I purchased that at the dealership less than a year ago, it will be replaced under warranty. My headlamps had the melted inner lens, dealer is replacing those, even though they did not put it through before the November deadline. So far, nothing but praise for Motorcars Toyota in Cleveland Heights! I'll update when I get my truck back. Motorcars has always been good to me, I don't expect any hiccups, at least any that are not taken care of :)

Took my 06 to the local dealer here in Kansas yesterday. I just bought the truck from Texas a month ago so the frame is in great shape, so I knew it wouldn't qualify for the frame replacement but was hoping I would get the undercoating. They told me that KS was considered a "warm weather" state and that I didn't qualify for anything. Has anyone else ran into this?

I'd be curious to here a legal opinion on if the Magnusson Moss Act applies. This is a "limited service campaign", not a warranty. Toyota probably called it that for a reason...
