And then they go back and fix all the stuff they did incorrectly later. I bet it ends up being less than 9 hours.

    Hey,
Noob here. Had 2 Tacos long ago...last one a '96 t-boned with 188000 miles and a lot of rust according to my mechanic...(loved that taco). The recall/buy-back began soon there after, BUT, mine was toast....
Fast forward to a month ago, looking for a replacement for my 204000 mile rustbucket Ford sport trac, found a 2008 TRD offroad dbl cab 81000 mil reasonable price....now mine Yippee!!
Found this awesome TW website with outrageous amounts of info. Curious of the frame issues that I thought I was beyond with the '08, and low and behold, NOT!
Have an appointment with the dealer for the rear spring AND frame check Wednesday...YIKES.
You guys are the BEST!! Great to have this valuable forum(s)

Perhaps. I was told I'll be taking mine for a test drive before I take possession...

Service Manager called me today and said that my truck is approved for the frame replacement. He said the leaf springs would be replaced also. 90 to 120 day wait for materials...
I have recent shocks on the truck, so I don't plan to upgrade them, only additional work I'm thinking about are the bushings for the steering rack.
I do have a rear driveline vibration and searched tacomaworld for ideas without much luck. I've had the tires balanced countless times and had a road force balance( I think that is the right description) without resolving the problem. I've looked at the center bearing on the driveshaft, while it feels pretty sloppy, the dealer told me that was normal.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks

Spoke with the Service Manager at AutoNation Toyota in Orlando today, he said 4 solid days for the change in his shop. Maybe they haven't achieved the methodical level yet...

For anyone in Canada that's browsing this thread the frame recall is extended until December 2016, at least in BC it is, so I'd assume all of Canada.

Somewhat ot here, but I'm gonna ask them to do a tsb

EG043-05 MAY 06 Fuel System - MIL ON/DTC's/No Start in Extreme Cold
This one pisses me off. I have a 2way RS so I don't usually listen for it to start,.cause it, "always," does.

And, the cruise control on my truck compared to the rental is day and nightmare. My truck downshifts 2-3 gears sometimes going up hills. I do A lot of highway miles.
Wait, the lightbulb just turned on..
Could this be related to tire size? I'm running Cooper 265/75/16

I have a 07 Taco, originally registered in US. Now in Canada. does anyone know if I can qualify for the recall with my US truck in Canada?
I input my vin on the Toyota.ca site, got an error message to say input a ca vin.
On the US site my vin says take it into a dealer before March 31 2016 for assessment.

Got the call this morning that my frame was finally in (after 4 months) and they would start working on it today. I told them I would swing by and drop off some UCA's for them to use. These were 2015 take-off's I bought from a member of this site. I get there and hand them to the service adviser who asks if they are aftermarket or Toyota. Seriously? So he had the mechanic come out to look at them. Mechanic confirmed they were Toyota and told the adviser 'one hour'. Then he added 'per side'. I said What? You're going to charge me to replace these? He said yes, it will take one hour per side to replace. I said I'm doing you a favor since now you won't have to take the old ones off the frame. He stood his ground, with the service manager and 2 mechanics behind him. I argued my case but they wouldn't budge, even after I told them to just leave the old ones on then. Feeling out numbered, I reluctantly agreed to pay one hour of labor. Then he said they would go over the truck and make a list of anything else that might need to be replaced at which point I reminded him that I brought him a perfectly fine truck 4 months ago. He even commented at the time what great shape it was in for a 2005.

I might not be a Toyota mechanic, but am I wrong in assuming it will be less work to install the new UCA's than re-use the old ones?

It's too bad we got off to a bad start. I was planning to have a few other things done like the belts and u-joints, fluid changes, etc. Now I don't want them to do anything to it. I'll bring it somewhere else and pay more if I have to just on principle. This is Jaffarian Toyota in Haverhill, MA FWIW.

@sleepsinshed, I bought my truck there. Brought it back for the frame before the recall and got the run around... My truck is at Woburn Toyota now waiting for the rest of the parts to arrive for the frame swap.

Yeah Larzzzz, I had a feeling Jaffarian might try to screw me somehow, based on comments I've heard in the past. A co-worker had his done at Woburn Toyota and they also tried to charge him to replace a number of things, so be prepared.
