My 2012 has low miles (I'm the original owner) and too new for the recall. hopefully the rust issue was fixed by the time my frame was made - regardless I personally Fluid Film my ever couple years - IMO it cannot hurt .... and it's cheap and quick.

I haven't seen anything but surface rust, but if there is something wrong with it I'll have to front the bill myself. I was just surprised by Toyota's lack of care about the situation. My next truck will likely be a different brand.

I am not the original owner and I did move about 3.5 years ago. What's funny is I got the letter a couple of months ago and I actually called to see if it was a misprint on the date of inspection requirement. They forwarded my case to corporate and they called me back and told me to pound sand. I asked about an exception because they didn't send me anything until after the expiration and they said they don't make exceptions under any circumstance. Way to be flexible toyota.

I called the Service Adviser today to let him know that we are 5 months into the 3-4 month wait for my new frame... He said he would call me back today after the service manager called to check on the timeline. He didn't call.

No honestly yours doesn't look bad and the recall was over in March. Toyota is not doing anything to help people out with it either.

How is your Tacoma doing and have you sold it yet? I remember a few of your posts here and Toyota wouldn't reinspect, even though the LSC hadn't ended yet.

I agree, your frame looks very good for a '06, but would still look into a product like Fluid Film, especially for the internal box section. I think your frame not seeing the salted roads we get up here in the Northeast, make a huge difference in the corrosion.

That is true in Canada, but the official cutoff date is March 31, 2016 for residents of the U.S.A.. People who own Tacoma's in Canada are also covered for 15 years on the frame, after having the LSC preformed, so you really get better coverage, even though we all have Tacoma's manufactured at the same place, with the same material.....something I have asked Toyota about, with no answer to why you have better coverage and still don't understand.

I would check out a product like Fluid Film, especially the internal box section where corrosion starts eating inside out. I bought a kit from Kelly Sport, with a 32" extension wand that gets deep into the box section and was very happy with it's ability to reach hidden areas.

You know for sure your truck will qualify for a new frame?

No I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty confident it's gonna fail. It looks worse every time I touch it. Worst case scenario, I get a new one in a couple years when it's really falling apart.

You think in say 10 years I move to Canada, can i get my new frame inspected? About how old my old one was after getting replaced.

I wouldn't know. There was some litigation happening regarding the second gen frame rot. I lost track of it... tomorrow I'll pull the docket and see where it's at.

Well , we could start a rumor that a "Yet to be Named" company will be selling a "DIY" frame kit for "taTa's " Tacomas. Company says it's gearing up to sell hundreds of thousand of kits to unsupported TaTa's Customers. Backers of this new company said to be "Ziebart" , Fluid Film and 3M. That Might get TaTa's attention
