Toyota of Des Moines called me Thursday August 23rd and we scheduled for the next Tuesday, 28th. I took my truck in about 8AM and they gave me a Camry loaner to use. On Friday, Aug 31, they called around 3 PM and I picked up my truck around 5PM. I was nervous, too, since they essentially tear your truck totally apart. Toyota of DM did say that they have done lots of these already. Could not be happier!

In my case, my truck was deemed unsafe upon inspection, so I was in a loaner Tacoma for 2 1/2 months waiting for my frame to come in. Once the frame arrived, it was just a couple-three days to do the replacement.

Toyota of DM didn't charge me a dime. I know they had to replace fluids and the service report lists two pages of parts.

Thank goodness through all this there are a few of us who are very satisfied with the end results of this fix on the frames. At least Yota is trying albeit there are sad, sad stories out there also with negative end results. What does it take to get a class action lawsuit going for those who are dissatisfied with their particular end results? Any attorneys on here? 1st thing needed is a survey... anyone?

You shouldn’t owe them a penny. Suggest that they are mistaken on the charge if they don’t remove it then ask them for Toyota corporate number and suggest a conference call.

Bought my 2010 in July from used car lot in Seattle, Washington, but have contact info with original owner. 125,500 miles on frame then with some rust. Original owner deferred all sorts of maintenance (e.g., fluids) and did not forward paperwork. Left one recall (rear leaf) un-repaired. So I have no idea if he ever had the frame inspected.

My observations: flaking rust on the frame. Did not bang the frame with a ball-peen hammer. What should I look for?

I see a lot of Subarus down here rusted to shit from bottom up. I would assume any vehicle that is driven on salt roads, beaches or dipped in the salt water at boat ramp would have issues later on. Where's the recommendations for how to properly clean your underside?

I just talked to Toyota about the letter I just got in the mail that extended the warranty enhancement from the latter of 12 years from the "in-service date" to January 31, 2019. This means that everyone is covered until January 31, 2019, regardless if they're over the 12 years "in-service date". Toyota also said you can bring it in the have it inspected anytime, with there being no cutoff on the number of times.

This is honestly good to know. I know a few people that have had issues with the dealerships saying if you've already been inspected, you're SOL, including myself.

Yes! I had been told I could not be inspected again, (last spring) and went to a different dealership for a sticker recall and asked them to check the frame. They "said" they checked the frame. Of course they didn't as it would have been printed on my invoice receipt. Right? They wouldn't even comment about the rust. Zero. Now we can get this done hopefully w/o issues!

If we get our frames, what type of BS can they pull on us? Thanks guys. I need to be prepared, as I'm doing this alone.

+3" Toyo Coilovers, Total Chaos Upper arms, +2" Addaleaf in the rear, Fox Shocks in the rear, Currently Building a flatbed for it.

Do you have any documents stating that they switched to excessive rust? I'm going into the dealer and I want all the Ammunition I can get. I'm currently in Cali, and so they are reluctant to do an inspection or replacement because they have to order the frame. Any tips?

Managed to create this hole in my front passenger cab mount with a flathead screwdriver today. Didn't take much. Hoping they approve me for a new frame. I declined the CRC 2 years ago because I wanted to do POR15 instead, so I'm a bit nervous.

If you're anywhere near the Bay Area take your truck to Walnut Creek Toyota, they just took care of my frame replacement recently - I'm super happy with the experience.

If the dealer you end up taking it to gives you the runaround you can call the Corp Toyota hotline for this service campaign: 888-270-9371. I had to go through 2 dealerships that were giving me weird excuses / explanations, then I called the hotline to complain and they assigned me a case # and ended up sending me over to Walnut Creek.

I would think so. The CRC is crap mine flaked off in six months and my frame still rusted out! Are you within the 12 years of inservice date?
