Looks like it incorporates a lot of the improvements made in the 3rd gen frames. If you remove the plastic cover by the brake line bracket and peek inside, there should be a waxy cavity coating in the boxed section of the frame. I discovered that while mounting sliders.

What does your cab mount look like? Is it the beefier type like 3rd gens?

I have heard that in the past. I watched them do mine and it looks nothing like that. Time will tell I guess. I hope my auto body guy wouldn't steer me wrong after all these years.

you guys have been helpful through out this whole thread, my truck went in for inspection and failed. So now I am waiting for the whole process to unfold. I have all aftermarket suspension. Icon coilovers which I will likely leave installed as well as a wheelers leaf pack, I know I am due for the new leaf pack, should I go with the new leaf pack from Toyota or keep the Wheelers leaf pack?? the wheelers pack is a bit older. probably about 40k miles but does provide some nice lift. thoughts?

Let Toyota do their thing, if you still have the original leafs, swap em out, get the warranty ones then swap em out and sell em.

Your dealer has to return a set of leafs for credit, you probably don’t want them taking your good ones as returns.

    just an option.

Yes. My dads 08 was originally bought and driven in upstate NY. In 2016 it was brought to NC and my dad bought it. May of this year it got a new frame. Best part is that since its gonna stay in NC as far as I know, the new frame shouldnt see any rust for decades.

Toyota will give you a partial reimbursement for the leaf pack. Ask the dealer for details.

Unless the frame has a hole big enough to fit a cantaloupe through, Toyota will most likely give you your truck back and call you in 4 months when your new frame comes in.

Maybe grab a set of stockers at a salvage yard, give them to the dealer and get your wheelers set back.:notsure:

Dropped off this afternoon. Got issued a new Tacamry. Dealership says if the tech gets it in early tomorrow I could have it back Wednesday. Seems super fast so we’ll see. I’d rather wait another day or two for no problems. Check out my new temp ride. Guess the viper goes out in the driveway so I can garage this beauty :p

So things kinda took a shit a minute ago with the dealer. Dropped off monday and was told it could be ready wednsday. Seemed kinda fast but guys have posted some getting done in 2.5 days so ok. No call wednesday (didn't expect one). No call thursday. By now I was at least expecting a call about about how much shit they were going to try to up sell me. Today (fri) no call so I called them on my way home from work. I'll condense the dealer bs. They just got it apart and here's the list of things you need - power steering rack. Now this is not leaking but I know it's rusted to so if the dealer will work with me on parts pricing this is one I'm actually planning on biting the bullet on ( I've seen online pricing around $800 so I'm hoping I can talk them down to $600 and I'm happy). Dealer $1700 for parts + $200 labor/2hrs to install .I tell her you"re going to charge me $200 to put the new rack in the new frame rather than move the old one over? Yup. Ok, gfy. I also gave them new in box brake rotors and a set of trd front brake pads that I bought from them. Guessed no charge for the rotors and what, $25 bucks to swap a set of pads, stuff's coming apart anyway, isn't it? Dealer $200 labor/2hrs. Again . I had also bought a set of Energy Suspension body bushings to install as others here have had included at no charge. I wouldn't even let her give me the price but they wanted to charge for that too. She kept going with stuff I needed and I cut her of and said do nothing. I had even asked for and authorized at drop off to go ahead and replace the carrier bearing and the upper of two metal trans lines that run along the passenger side of the engine (I had done the lower one myself a couple months ago, again with parts I bought there). Cancelled that too. That dealer is not getting a cent from me again. Towne Toyota :jerkoff::brianr: GFY!!

Edit I also asked when it was going to be ready and she said middle of next week which I think is a long time. That would be 7 work days to do the swap.

You have a copy of that work order? Does it say that the rack needs replaced because it's rusted? If it says anything needs replacement due to rust, call corporate and explain the situation to them. Anything that the dealer suggested as replacement due to rust is/should be covered. You shouldn't have to pay a cent. It's written in the court order.

I'm seriously considering that as my next ride. Sucks that the V6 isn't available in the SE trim but oh well.

Download the settlement PDF, read it. There's a page or 2 where it mentions a"parts" or "incidental parts" are to be replaced as a result. Either due to rust or if they where broken during the frame replacement process at no charge to the customer. You shouldn't have to pay a dime if they determine it needs replacement due to rust or if it breaks during removal or reinstallation of the replacement frame.

Then print out the whole thing if you wish, or just the key parts related to Toyota corporate picking up the tab.
