frame rust

    i am original owner of 2001 tacoma with heavy frame rust. what options do i have in proceeding against toyota?

    You're too late! You already missed the recall! Had you been about 2 or 3 years earlier you could have had your frame sprayed with a chemical to prevent rust or if it had holes they would have replaced it free of charge.

    About all you can do now is buy yourself a frame and have someone install it.

    thanks for the reply. where would be a good place to look for a frame (junk yards, after market, etc)? and if i could find one, would i have the problem of it rusting out too? i live in wisconsin.....enough said.

    You could try a junkyard but i doubt you'd find a decent one. The dealer sells them but they are expen$ive.

    I took it into the dealer and the service manager, after inspection, said it was "unsafe to drive at any speed."

    i got a recall notice for the spare tire carrier and the dealer said he couldn't do the work. called toyota and got a case #. service rep. said she would check with dealer about spare tire carrier but i would not be entitled to frame replacement. so i will, at least have a new spare tire carrier attached to a rusted frame that is unsafe at any speed.
