Had my windows down and radio off on my way to lunch just now and was going over a few reasonable bumps pretty slowly <5mph and heard a slight clunk from the front end (kinda right below me)

Did a few quick searches and found it could possibly be the cab mounts? But not sure if any of you manual trans guys out there can chime in on this noise. If it helps any I have a M/T with 2100 miles on the ODO. Sometimes when I am mid shift of changing gears during a bump I will also hear this rattle/clunk. Normal m/t behavior?

Truck is stock? Still under warranty? I'd take to dealer and ask them to check cab mounts or bushings.

Make sure you're not on the recall list first or they may try to hold onto your truck and give you a huge run-around. Then you'll end up driving off in a Prius or Corolla. Which you may end up liking better than your Tacoma

Hard to tell without hearing it, but I had a similar issue. Removed my sway bar went away. Make sure everything is torqued on the sway bar and see if that helps

If I have my foot on the clutch or coasting in neutral, there's a clunk when I hit a bump.
This isn't the first MT I've had that does that.

Negative for both recalls---but I don't think any ORs have made it on the rear diff recall yet, right?

Not to my knowledge but I have seen quite a few that are exhibiting the same symptoms of the recall and if dealer spots the seeping oil, they have held some trucks I believe... even ones not on the recall.

Yep, I can try to replicate it and see if i am in gear if it will make that clunking noise but I was in neutral or clutch was depressed both times.

Interesting, anyways I looked under mine the other day when I was washing it and its still dry so no issues there. But if its not in the recalls, I don't see how a dealer could hold it. It would just fall under warranty claim...I could be wrong.

Any ORs been confiscated due to a weeping diff? (I don't want to start a new thread)

I've also had several MTs that do this, usually while the clutch is in and I'm rolling over a speed bump.....not sure what causes it though.

I'd say it's normal and acceptable

I just happened to be near my truck when I saw this so I got under and played with the driveshaft and can confirm thats the noise. Normal characteristic, lol good to know though. Thanks!
