I'm doing U-joints this week and I noticed that the FSM and online parts catalog disagree on the orientation of the front propeller shaft. Is there a correct orientation or should I just flip a coin?

See attached image: the parts catalog shows the end with the slip yoke attaching to the transfer case (with studs), while the FSM shows the slip yoke attaching to the front differential (with bolts).

2003 FSM page PR-10 "Propeller Shaft Assembly"

2002 Tacoma 4WD 3.4L Xcab. Note I'm using a 2003 FSM because that's what I have. Toyota Parts uses the same part numbers and illustrations for both years, so I take it that's not a concern.

Follow the FSM. If the u joints are out of phase you will be replacing U joints again.
