Hi all! Been looking for awhile but first post. Alot of great ideas in here! I am looking for some front tow hooks until I can afford a new arb bumper. Is it possible to add hooks to the front? If so where and how, I have a 2009 ac 4x4 lb. Also whats up with the slow speed downshift to first gear, I obviously have the auto, this does drive me crazy its almost like engine braking.

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Welcome to TW!

I have an 09 O/R AC. and i have a front tow hook. You could probly order a factory one and bolt it up. I have also seen generic ones at harbor freight and 4wheelparts.

My 2010 TRD Off Road has a real tow hook on the right side and a sort of heavy U-bolt thingy on the left. What is the latter useful for and how much stress can it stand?

That loop is a tie down point for trailering (as I understand it) so a static load and a little bit of wiggling....but no towing or recovery from that loop thing...

FYI, the 05+ Tacoma ARB bumper does not have tow hooks or d rings.

When I put my ARB on my 2008, I took the stock right side tow hook off and flipped it over to make it useable again. I had to grind it a bit to make it mate up flush. It is useable now and looks great now.
