Fuse for dimmer

I recently completed all of my wiring for my Bussmann fuse/relay panel. I will have 6 switches in the storage area under the A/C controls, and a "main power" switch on the left of the steering wheel where the factory Tacoma switches are. I did this so when driving I could quickly and easily turn off all of my accessory lights. Anyway, I used an add a fuse for the back lighting of the switches. I tapped into the "gauge" fuse spot, thinking it would dim like the backlight of the gauges do. It does not. Am I tapping into the wrong fuse location or is this not possible and I need to tap into another dimmable switch's power?

 

You need to tap into the dash light circuit, not the fuse box. As in the green (+) and green with white stripe (-). The nearest location is in the A/C connector above your setup.

 

So there is no fuse I can tap into that dims? You're saying tap the switch backlight positive to the green wire and the backlight ground to the green+white wire?

 

That's a great idea. How did you wire that "main on/off switch"? Did you go straight from the RTMR panel, or in-line on the red wire to the switch backs?

Thanks for the diagram! I was looking for the exact same solution for lighting my switches on that very circuit. I'm installing a Tacomapros RTMR and 6 switch cubby panel.

 

I went from the RTMR to the main switch, then from the main switch to my switch bank. Basically the main switch just cuts off the red power wire to the switch bank.

 

That's what I thought. What style/type/make switch did you use?
I have one blank spot remaining of the left side.

My left side OEM switches are gree. My center console and dash is all white.

I'm going with the Contura V style upper white independent/lower amber dependent (ON) for my switch panel.
