I read last night that Apple said a new screen will not happen! But other things are probable!

Just won an iPad 16GB Wi-Fi through work. Sold it ASAP. It's basically useless if you have a MacBook (Pro/Air) AND an iPhone. But, if you are missing either, or both, then it would be a great device. I sold my iPad at the price that I predicted Apple with drop down their 1st gen iPads. Which was $400 and it sold right away. They are possibly dropping the price of the new entry iPad. So you might find yourself in a pickle when the new one arrives.

If you store a lot of apps, ~500 songs, ~1000 photos, and a few movies, 16GB will get filled up pretty quickly.

Do you or anyone have any idea what they will be dropping the price to? I am not interested in the Ipad 2. The Ipad 1 is perfect for me and the changes are mot that significant!

Yeah the new ipad is looking like it will get a "retina" display with some ridiculous resolution, dual core, front facing camera and beefier graphics.

I wouldn't say android isn't even close to iOS...because that's simply not true...it's already surpassed iOS by the numbers.

I had a nook color for a few days and it was great...the only downside is the QC on their screens. Once you get a good one, it's an amazing tablet (about to be hacked to run full cyanogen mod) for 250 bucks. I didn't keep it because I need a lot of things besides a tablet now. If you're looking for a tablet, I would definitely check it out.

Some comparisons to android (Galaxy Tab)
    ----------------- ---------------Android--------- ------- Ipad
Cameras------- --------------Front 1.2 rear -------2.3 None
    Video playback ---------------- 7hrs ------------------10hrs
    Expansion----------------------- 32GB----------------- None
    Uncensored apps----------------- yes------------------ No
Full featured Multi tasking------ Yes------------------ No
    customizable OS------------------ Yes------------------No
    Free Tethering--------------------- Yes----------------- No
    Productivity Applications------limited for now...... unlimited
Flash 10.1--------------------- - Supported--------- not supporter
    RAM---------------------------------512GB-------------- 256GB
    Refundable applications---------- Yes-------------------No

Tab can be used with one hand but has a smaller screen area...Weighs less.

More Applications for Apple but Android will catch up and the quality of all applications are more important than quantity.

That said I am a geek. I build my computers and love tinkering with the OS on the Android stuff. I prefer have complete control over how i use my computers and cell phones. That is highly supported and encouraged by the open source community and Google.

This is a great point. But Apple has been extremely successful with their Ipod touch. And this is just a bigger version of that. 5 years from now...i will prob be saying Apple who?

Gf bought mine in august. 16G 3G/WiFi. I love it. I highly suggest you get the wifi+3g. If you travel at all, you'll want the option to make a quick $20 transaction and get 3G service when you're dying for internet and wifi isn't an option. It's month to month so if you're on vacation for a week with no wifi, 20 bucks is a small price to take you from frustrated to happy. Plus, the service lasts for a month.

It's replaced my laptop for just about everything but torrents. Any pics I take with my digital camera still go to the laptop (which I transfer to an Apple time Capsule..lol), but otherwise I do everything on the ipad. It's just so convenient for my morning coffee, looking up recipes and leaving it by the stove while cooking, grabbing it quickly for lookups, the bathroom, etc. I take it down to my drum kit and pull up stuff on youtube and run it right out through my mixer to play along with. It goes right in my backpack when I travel, etc. A couple weeks ago I had it out in the truck and on TW looking at instructions for taking the dash panel out..LOL

The battery life is phenomenal. I left it on for 3 days once and only lost about 2% of power. The screen is bright and clear. Movies and netflix look great. It's so slick and fast from screen to screen and app to app. The wifi flies using wireless N back to the time capsule. I can't say enough good things about it. The only downside is video playback compatibility for things using flash, but in the 5 months I've had it, I've seen a huge increase in sites I can watch video on. From what I understand, everything will be compatible for the most part very soon. I think it has something to do with HTML5?

In short...buy it. But the 3g model. 16g is more than enough for any average user. :)

Apple started it all and I appreciate that. Xerox invented the mouse GUI..Apple ran with it....then Microsoft. But now that Android has surpassed Apple in mobile OS in use (beasue they are on many branded devices) Apple may lag in that area. Make no mistake though. Many people prefer the ease of use of the IStuff and MAC. Not everyone want's to decide how their hardware will work best for them and customize it.

For me, Android made me sell our short lived iPhones. I really prefer the open source stuff. I have no use for any type of "pad or tab" too big, I prefer my Phone and or iTouch. I carry a 12" Alienware M11X notebook around and that is a better solution then either for most applications when traveling. The pads and tabs could never replace my notebook away from home

The pad and tab is in the middle. Matches what I can already do with a phone but not the PC.....The same notebook is parked on the end table in my living room where I use it for this and slinging video to the flatscreen.

Apple decided not to incorporate adobe flash support in their iOS browsers, instead favoring the upcoming HTML5 video format. HTML5 is a coding standard, not just a format for web video. The better support for embedded video is just one of the parts of it. Apple's decision has certainly accelerated the adoption of HTML5 for web video. It was a bold move.

I would definitely wait 6 months to see what happens with the tablet market...never know what will surface.
