So I just bought a 2014 tacoma trd sport. But it doesn't come with navigation. It comes with all the apps on the screen but navigation. I was wondering if i can buy a chip or a CD from somewhere to install into the system so i can have navigation on the touch screen.

Good question. I wonder if Toyota could do an upgrade for you?...

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
No you can not just software upgrade the HU to add navigation.

You need to replace the HU. Or add an aftermarket GPS (like a TomTom).

What would be the best HU aftermarket nav unit out there? Been thinking about getting one myself.

What do you mean exactly by "best one out there"?

Without regard to price or value the hands-down best Nav HU is the Kenwood DNX7160. But they are expensive. And, they are no longer being sold. I don't know what the new model that replaced it is?

I had a Pioneer z120bt installed by a custom shop. Don't waste your money on the Z120bt - the blue tooth chipset is junk. After about a year I had it removed and installed a Pioneer Z150bh - vast improvement in hands-free blue tooth phone function but still not perfect but it works. Both units look like they came out of the factory with a nav system except you don't have buttons. I had a pioneer 950bt installed in my wifes' 2005 Solara - works great and the steering wheel controls function as well.
