Sorry Rich ... we have a few (actually more than a few) around here as well. Feel your frustration.

    x2 Joe.

We've spoke of this before. I'm getting better at not letting it bother me. They don't pay me to worry about, so I try really hard to not. They can't, or least certainly won't, pay me enought to take a manager position over some of these "clowns." At least not since I'm already drawing one retirement check. Don't need the money enough to take on the additional headaches. ;)

Otherwise, how's it going? We had 6 loads to plan tonight, so stayed moderately busy for more than half the shift. Now just wait an hour or so to check weather and make adjustments if necessary. So I thought I'd check in.

It's good Rob. The parents, sister & I are enjoying the visit. We're on break & back at the hotel. We made it to the big Catholic Church, did the river walk, Bourbon Street and a cemetery tour. Tomorrow we'll do a cruise & dinner (one & the same in this case) and whatever else we decide. We're staying at a place called the Monteleone and it's a nice CLEAN change for the French Quarter from where I've stayed in the past. Weather is fantastic and my recent summer hair cut has let my head get sunburned. The rest of me was already burned last week mowing all day at home. :)

    How are you?

Good Joe. Getting anxious for Spring/Summer to come on strong. We got a couple inches of snow Monday night/Tuesday, but it's melting off fast.

Sounds like ya'll are having a great time...that's awesome!

You'll have to post us a few pics when you get back. The Catholic Church sounds interesting. They're usually very impressively ornate.

    Enjoy the dinner cruise. :)

Yea. I'm dying to see some pictures of the church as well.
I bet you are having a blast!

Looking forward to spending a week home for the July 4th holidays with my folks and grandmother.
Ofcourse its so hot and humid in Indiana that time of year there isn't much to do outside and I don't know anyone in there area. Just be nice to see them after 6 months. :(

Get the motorcycle back together and what do I find? A nice pinhole leak in my radiator...:mad:

Now I get to drive 45 miles across the metro area to try and get it fixed. If I'm lucky they'll get it done while I wait so I don't have to drive back across town during rush hour to pick it up at the end of the day.

If its just a pinhole, won't bars leak or some other internal solution work?

I've heard bad things about that stuff blocking water passages. Doubly so on a tiny motorcycle radiator. Only took 35 minutes to get off the bike so we'll see.

I also do a fair share of riding up in the mountains solo and while I have a personal locator/sos beacon, I'd really rather not have to use it if the radiator or engine has issues from a stop-leak type of fix in the long run.

    I agree.
The only water cooled bike I've ever owned was my R1 and a early kz kawi.
Xv920rh, buells and softale of my pops are all air.

Is the SOS beacon a 1 time only deal? I've thought about getting one since I trout fish in some pretty remote areas.

I have a SPOT 2 which is multiple use, as well as a message button to send a pre-set message to preset list of phones/email addresses, or a non-SOS help button which is a separate preset message to a preset list of phones/emails. But it has a $100/yr subscription fee so it's kind of expensive over the long run. I orginally bought it for the tracking feature that "tracks" your progress every 10-20 minutes or so and puts it on a google maps style page you can share with others via a public or password protected webpage run by SPOT. It was great for a 4 week bike trip into the wilds; friends who I was planning on meeting could check in to see if I was running late or roughly where I was even if I was in the bush out of cell range (which was more often than not in remote areas of Canada).

Great for instances if I have mechanical issues on the trails; I have the custom message set to say I'm having mechanical issues but they are non-life threatening. The "help" message I have set to say I'm having a non-life threatening medical issue, but can't self-rescue. And then there's the SOS button for when shit hits the fan which goes to a global response center operated by SPOT who then calls local Search and Rescue/sherrif's offices/ranger stations.

The downside of course is the annual fee, base SOS is about $100/yr and tracking is $50 or so. They make a couple different units, I've had mine for about 3 years and it's still completely waterproof. It's mounted to my bike in a RAM cradle.

I was able to get a check-in/ok message out when I was camping in a 100-150 ft deep canyon about 50 feet wide in NW Colorado. It took about 90 minutes for a satellite to pass over the canyon though. Normally it's about 10-15 minutes for most notifications.

There's a crapton of debates for and against SPOT but it's worked when I need it, and doesn't need a $200-300 battery replacement every 5 years that standard PLB's typically require. I get months out one set of the Ultimate Lithium AAA's when not tracking and just using the device to send help or OK messages. With tracking I got about 10-12 days out of a set of batteries with using tracking 12-14 hours a day with a couple OK messages thrown in during my 4 week bike trip a couple years ago.

    Good info man.
That does look a bit expensive. The areas I fish are no signal/sms capable and I carry an extra battery and put the phone in dry storage in my pocket.
I also carry another droid that has been decommissioned but keep it at full charge. Naturally it is still 911 capable and pingable.

Stayed busy tonight. Finished load plans, then Ramp guys asked for some help loading a C17; couple guys called in sick, so they were a little short handed. Army builds some heavy ass pallets; got my work out tonight. ;)

We have garlic and about a dozen unplanned onions up:eek: We better get going on everything else:rolleyes: Yep today and Sat. are going to be real nice, we should be able to get everything else ready to go. We still get frost on most nights, so wait a bit to plant.

I've got wild onions in the front yard a foot and a half high. Lol.
Today's the first mow of the season, I'm sure my neighbors will be ecstatic. They have already mowed 3 times.

We haven't needed any mowing yet. Grass is still brown. It'll turn green and start growing in a few weeks. Then the mowers will start disturbing my slumber:mad:
