well ive got like 2 months to study. sadly i didnt download the app on my phone so i will have to rely on hamstudy.org and the book i bought. should be able to get it down before i return home. if i can get it down, i may even study for the extra at the same time and try to knock both out at once.

Actually study for the HAM exam.

 

I'll sit at work and study when I'm not running calls taking practice tests. I also bought the app for my phone so I can study anywhere I have a few minutes. At home I usually study at night or during the day when everyone is at school or work.

 

If I miss this one it will be 2 months before it's offered again locally.

 

well being a bachlor again helps. haha. mostly i do it when i have duty overnight. or like right now since im just floating around ill peck away at some questions here and there. for the tech exam, i mostly just studied for 2 nights (bout 10 hrs total) and scored 100.

 

im looking it up right now to find out when i can test in my area.

 

I was reading the book till I got to the damn math section. Made my head hurt. Just skipped that section and kept reading. lol

nope. Im waiting until I can afford the setup.

 

So just looked it up. looks like i have alot of options in NOV. just depends how far i want to travel to test. will prob end up doing the Orlando one near disney.

 

It's all what you want to put into it. You don't have to go all out to start with. Dual band 2m/70cm mobile or even a dual band ht for local coverage. I mean a $30 Baofeng with a extended antenna will work. Around $150 you can get a dual band dmr or system fusion radio. Just depends on what flavors of digital they have in your area.

 

ya, until someone talks you into a $550 setup for the truck... then almost talks you into a handheld for the same price....

Got to love those Kenwood though. And if I didn't;t have it myself I wouldn't;t have recommended it.

But in the end, you know as well as I do you got a badass radio.

that is true. i just need to program it so i can switch between freq faster. and learn it better.

 

Want me to talk you into a commercial Kenwood with options for dmr, P25 and NXDN? Not to mention you can have separate bands on the same radio head connected to it?

 

na im good. next radio will either be HF or the D74.. can never have enough hand helds.
