What if you fail a piss test in the military? In my home state of Washington we are green friendly. :rasta: :sandwich:

Good question. I honestly can't say, as I never failed a piss test. I heard lots of rumors, but never actually met anyone who did. Heard mostly of jail time, loss of rank, loss of benefits (GI Bill, retirement, etc) then discharge. Most of the people we heard about failing, we didn't talk with again as they pretty much disappeared from base life. Take all that with a grain of salt though, as it was all rumors.

I will say my "random" piss tests always happened after I took leave, and the final two weeks before I separated for my HD. My friends/supervisors who retired also had "random" piss tests just before they did their final retirement papers. I'm talking E5 (me), an E6 (1 retiring), and E7 (three retiring). My only guess as to "why" is that it's cheaper for the Gov to do a piss test vs. paying the money for the GI Bill or retirement. I don't have any proof of this, so it's all just speculation on my part, but it was pretty weird to have so many "random" tests done to so many different people. It could have been the command, the base, location, etc. Or there could have been a drug culture/problem on base that I didn't know about.

Back in my day if you fail, by the time you are notified you're already separated. And l believe it was a "less than honorable" discharge.
The drug test are a triple fail system. They devide your "donation" into three parts. To fail you have to fail all three. If any one passes you're clean.
Also the Feds still consider MJ illegal. I would think the military would fall under federal law

Well, where I am currently stationed, they send out a monthly newsletter explaining exactly what happens to people that fail their drug tox screens, along with many other infractions such as DUIs, sexual assaults, dereliction of duty, etc...

Most people who fail a drug screen, being that it is a zero tolerance policy, receive a minimum of reduction in rank, usually to Airman Basic (E-1), as well as suspension of pay, imprisonment (usually 90 days or less), and a general to dishonorable discharge. General discharge forfeits all benefits, including GI bill and VA, and as you surely know, dishonorable is forfeiture of all benefits as well as a very nasty mark on your federal background record. I have seen some get more harsh penalties for distribution of illegal substances, but I have yet to see any leniency on people who "pop positive." Though, they will hastily send you to rehab! Mainly so they can say you are stable enough, medically and mentally, to be released from the military.

As far as how they test the samples, I am not privy to that information myself, but I have worked with many lab techs that say they divide the samples collected (as a whole, not individually) and test each group for a single drug. If you "pop positive" on anything, you are retested and your command is notified. The cost of testing every single sample collected every day from every branch for every illegal substance would cost millions of dollars annually. Now, if you are under suspicion, that's a different story...

    Interesting night!

Coworker that I like working with just got an offer elsewhere for $13 more. So he's going to be gone.

My supervisor that has been my favorite so far is walking out as soon as we get our bonuses. Few other guys will be walking out as well.

I'm seriously hoping I can get this other job so I can work days and much more money!

I've been hearing that we're on the verge of a shortage of skilled blue collar workers and employers are starting to bump up the wages to keep the ones they have and attract the ones they don't. Good for us.
