    Verry true.
I make myself stay away from gun shopping because I will dig myself into a big hole.

Already bought a ruger lc9 a few months ago; right before the truck. Now I wish I had that extra $450 -but there's no way in hell I'll part with it.

Luckily I have a freebie glock19 from work haha. Too bad it can only leave for practice:(.

Having shot many different handguns at this point, i've cleaned house in order to purchase a sig in 9mm with all the goodies. mk25 trim, tru glos, new trigger, threaded barrel, etc..

i'm so close to my dream 3 gun trio. The sig would complete the trinity with my RRA LAR-15 and mossberg m500

Alright I want y'alls opinions.. From people who have been on day shift previously.
One of the first shift guys was promoted and moved to 2nd shift leaving a Wednesday through Sunday 7am-3pm open and I'm the only one who is considering taking it.

Is it worth the day hours to deal with people?? haha

-I've adjusted to nights, but at the same time I am very much a morning person; like the kind you don't want to see before you've had your coffee.
-Would hit about the same traffic at 3pm as I do leaving at 7am.
-I'd be dealing with a lot more stupid calls for opening doors, contractors, etc...... less real shit like alcohol poisoning, DUI's, breaking up parties, etc.
-Less down/computer time, and can't just sit in the office.
-I'd have to smile and be super nice to everyone. Now this seems to be the toughest deciding factor for myself.
-I'd lose out on 50c/hr. Which is about $80/month

Im actually waiting to go back to day shift. My company needs to fill my night shift position, before I can go though

I will be losing out on 16% shift differential and 8 hours of OT. Which is about $300 per month. But I get to have friends, a normal sleep schedule. I am not customer facing so I dont need to worry about that. But I would be dealing with office politics and dealing with managers asking me things throughout the day..And my commute would be the same. My shift is 8pm-8am. Day shift would be 8am-8pm.

I am looking forward to going back, for the most part

Thanks for the insight. Edging me more toward days..

Mine's not exactly customer faced- I'm a Public Safety Officer for a University. But the consultant we have as a director right now wants us to have a "Disney Satisfaction" type attitude toward everything.

The normal sleep, and friends are part of the driving factors for me. I have the same issue with the the office/manager bs I'd have to deal with. The Sup's for 2nd/3rd are just people paid 6k more a year to sit on their fat ass and dick around.

Same goes for waiting for my position to be filled before moving. Which the way this place operates - it would be at least the new year by then.

@Taco16Jessy I sit in a data center. Im watching 5 computer screens "monitoring things".. Im more on the IT side of things. But I really dont do that much. (hopefully management is on TW haha). I just watch movies and browse craigslist. Rarely something happens where I have to do some work. On day shift there is more to do, and if something happens, I would need to scramble. But time management is better. On nights, there is usually nothing to do during the witching hours.. 3am-6am, which is when things seem the slowest. Like you said, I am used to it now. I actually volunteered to go to nights 2 years ago. I have learned more, but I thought the process to go back to days would be easier. I learned its not for me

Sounds pretty much what I do day to day, but different environment. I'm just so used to doing hardly anything unless shit hits the fan, I'm afraid I'll regret leaving cushy third shift for socialization and sleep, haha.

When I want to get past blocked content (usually gun related) I use my phone and not connect to wi-fi.

Sounds very much like a double edge sword. I don't think I would do it if I were you. Looks like a day position may be opening here. I won't do it. ($500+ a month pay cut and a few other reasons) I'm hoping they'll make it a third shift position, and get us some help on nights.

P.S. $.50/HR shift diff. Can be made up pretty easily. My last job (union) only paid $.21/HR for third shift. I'm making much more than that now:thumbsup:

See your paycut along with fatfurious2 is much more of a difference than mine. I definitely wouldn't switch if it meant more than $200 out of my pocket.
What's funny is that we desperately need help on nights as well. very short staffed, but making their first shift more top heavy is apparently more important.

A top heavy days is a constant. I think it's so our managers can impress others with high visibility.

    yupp, sounds about right.
With the new supervisors they've added it's a little better, still 6 on first and 3 on the next two shifts.

We're in the bid process at the moment and I'm actually choosing to stay on nights for better days off. I'll end up being able to spend lots more time with my family. Most money, least work. We are forced to triage things and deal with the MMQB later versus sitting around waiting for the go-ahead.

They just took 2 from us and have one to days and one to evenings. Yet somehow we still run a tighter shift. Days has 16, 2 supervisors and 3 managers, 3-11 has 14 with 2 supervisors and 2 managers and we now have 10 with 1 and 1... they want to hire more for days when courts are open and it's a mere phone call to handle issues.
