Had another thought. Have you done a continuity test of each circuit from the 7-way and back to the ground on the 7-way.

Can you take the side marker lights out of the equation? Check to see if the running lights and break light work on just the rear light assemblies?

When I build a trailer and wire it, I toss the side marker lights. they are always the weak link.

I know its not DOT code to be without them, but if those side marker lights are the cause of 90% of the failures of the entire system, they are not missed.

If this trailer is used for a business and has your name on it, then you should make every effort to have all the lights working.

 

yup, can easily take them out of the equation. To be honest, im about to just order all LED replacements and start from scratch, as while i only use the trailer for hauling my Rally car, i spend a lot of time out of state with it and ive noticed the cops like to nit pick when you out of state.

Its all I use for my custom built trailers.

My own car hauler has LED lights all the way around including all the required marker lights. There is nothing more durable than LED's. When I built the car hauler in 2000, the LED's were very expensive. I had over $175 in lights. Now you can do the entire thing for less than $75.

I use the trailer last week and all the lights are still working.

My favorite method for wiring is to twist the wires together, solder, roofing tar and wire nut the entire connection. Its very fast and very durable. It doesn't sound very professional, but it works great.

When I stumbled upon this method, I decided to do it this way because here in Michigan, you WILL be rewiring the trailer and wanted a quick way to access the old wire. Oddly enough, I'm not seeing failures in the connections at all.

In addition, I'm not a fan of running wires in conduits. Spend money on heavier duty wire(thicker sheathing) and you are much further ahead.

 

Yes to all of that... maybe minus that crazy connection method lol, im a big fan of Lineman's splice plus solder and heatshrink.
