Greetings from WNC

Hey y’all,

Been an on and off lurker over the years. I’ve always wanted a Tacoma but timing or fit just never worked out. I never had any experience with Toyota other than a used gen1 rav4 that was a total lemon.

Anyway, other than the piss poor buyers market out there, the other stars aligned and I picked up a ‘17 sr5 access cab, 4x4 2.7 AT. It has just under 80k miles on it, was an SC, truck and is absolutely immaculate. I just ordered some wildpeak 265/75/16 tires and some used off-road alloys. Other than that, I’m just gonna drive it awhile and see what I may or may not want to change. I have an Acura MDX and an all wheel drive Chevy express for other duties. Past pickup trucks I’ve had, I’ve preferred traditional ladder racks then working off that (I’m a contractor)..

I’m not really a fan of term overlanding since I’ve been exploring and camping out of wheeled machines since as far back as I can remember, but most of this itch gets scratched on motorcycle trips. I just got back from a 4500 mile trip up and down the MA and NE BDR’s. ( lots of dirt roads and single lane from VA up to the northern border in Maine.

Me too. I’ve been lucky to have gotten around a bit and live in a few places, but once I got into WNC, I knew I was home. Same could be said for eastern tn or sw va. I love the whole region.
