So, long story short I bought a color matched grille off Craigslist from a guy who was in an accident and when he got the truck back from the body shop he installed a ebay grille. The body shop had painted a new grille and put it in. So, everything is fine for a month or so and then I go down to Tennessee to and on the way a small piece of plastic hits my windshield while I'm going like 70 and I start to hear this low buzzing/growling noise. I look over the hood and see the top edge of my grille fluttering at roughly the spend of sound. I stop and put some electrical tape on it and continue mission. When I got home I took the grille off and noticed SEVERAL of the tabs that hold the surround on were missing at the top and the bottom ones were not melted good. I melted the bottom ones with my solder gun and melt all the available ones up top, about 4 along the top. It feels rock solid. Put it back on the truck and all was well for a month or so and now it's vibrating again but only feels loose along the bottom edge of the top part of the grille. There are no tabs along it to melt. What are my options to make sure it stays put? My thinking is there air moves upward from there and that causes the vibration. JB weld? Some type of plastic epoxy in the holes where the tabs should be??? Call it a loss and throw it away? I'm about to put some tape on it in the meantime for prevent any further damage. My old grille is in the process of being cut up to do a Satoshi mod.

The more information we have. .. the better advice we can give...
Do you have pictures if the grill.?
    (Preferably off the truck)
Tough to say without seeing it.
But when I melt plastic...I usually melt a stretched out paper clip or coat hanger depending on size of repair. But without pictures I'd have no clue.:worthless:

Here you can see the "culprits". The front edge as seen in the last picture is what's causing the issues. I can't seem to figure out how to get it securely mounted to the insert.20170410_135355.jpg 20170410_135404.jpg 20170410_135410.jpg 20170410_135637.jpg 20170410_135649.jpg

My thought, not sure if it's a good one is to clamp the surround and fill the empty slots with the strongest glue or epoxy I can find and let it harden...

It's black. I bought this grille to run while I'm working on my own satoshi grille, I love tinkering and thought it would be fun to do but I've not worked on it much. I will be running this grille for about a month and would like to fix it so if I want I can sell it when I get my other grille done. Plus the noise drives me INSANE.

I bought a grill insert from CCG that I finished this weekend while I painted my surround. They recommend using Goop from auto parts stores. You could buy some to fix this then use it later on the mesh if it calls for it

If you do use it, I reccommend using some masking tape to cover parts where you dont want the adhesive. Then peel it off when its semi dry after 30mins or so.

Well, now we wait. I gave it a good dose then took a butter knife and poked down in the hole to make sure it was going through. Hopefully it will hold. If not, I'll try something else... I dunno what... but something.
