You have problems some place in your alarm.

One of those in person type of trouble shooting .

If you have the schematic for the alarm it will make it easier to trouble shoot.

Sounds like it may be a loose ground. It can cause the electrical system to flake out like that. Many times there will be common ground point that many devices will reference. Typically bolted to the chassis under a kick plate, or something. Did you have anything installed recently? like a stereo, alarm, etc?

It is normal for an alarm to sound the horn after the battery was disconnected when you reattach the terminal. Most if not all do this. The flickering etc is Not Normal. As suggested above the wiring more than likely is screwed up somewhere. It sounds like a grounding issue, but impossible to troubleshoot on the interweb.

Do you know anyone that is competent with electrical wiring? If not, take it to an auto electrical shop.
