    Hi guys,

Having issues with my truck heater not producing any heat. The fan seems to be functioning properly, but only blows cool air. Had a brief look for threads on this issue, but didn't come across any. Can someone point me towards a previous thread that discusses some of the possible solutions. Thanks.

    Can we start simple?

Did you check to make sure you are not dangerously low on anti freeze? Low coolant will result in no heat.

Yep. Mom accidentally backs into teenage daughters car in the driveway. Dammit! Looks like just the bumper. Daughter heads for work. Daughter calls mom while driving. “The heaters not blowing heat”. Mom calls dad. Dad calls daughter. “Pull the Fuck over and shut it off!” Daughter, “Ok”.

    Too late. Blown head gasket.

    True story.

It could also be the Air Mix Servo stuck in cool mode position. easy to get to and verify the flapper will move and the servo moves when the temperature selection switch is moved.

Heater started working again on its own. Hopefully it doesn't become an intermittent issue. I did notice the coolant is low, so I will top it up. Thanks for the responses guys.

If the low coolant is the cause of the no heat, you are right on the brink of turning your engine into a 500lb paperweight.

You need to find out where that coolant went.
Being an 05’, I hope for your sake, it is an external leak.

The coolant was right at the low mark, but the heater started producing heat again before I topped it up. I had the coolant system checked for leaks, along with a pressure test, around a month ago. Mechanic found no issues. I'll keep a close eye on the coolant level. Anything else I should check?

So, does this mean you never actually took off the radiator cap?

Yikes is right. Just checked the coolant level and now it's below the low mark. Only drove 10km since I filled it up yesterday. Can't see any visible leaks or puddles underneath. Any thoughts?

Could be a blown head gasket. I believe '05s are notorious for that issue...

Sooooo, you STILL haven't taken off the radiator cap and looked at the coolant level? The level of coolant on the overflow bottle is NOT an indication of how much coolant is in the rest of the system. Remember that 500LB paperweight I refered to?

Check the coolant in the radiator WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD.
Do NOT check it with the engine Warm.

Correct. You need to remove the cap to check the level properly. Do this after the engine has cooled.

Pull the dipstick before you remove the rad cap.... if you see melted caramel ice-cream, just walk away.
