    Hello All,
Just found and joined this forum due to my 05 Double Cab PreRunner Long Bed having been determined to need a frame replacement. Started searching and found so many great posts on this issue and all things Tacoma related I hadn't even considered that I joined up.
My story/current situation: Bought my truck new in Aug 05 in Virginia Beach, VA. Lived in the Hampton Roads area until moving to Chicago in 2013. Currently have 121,000 miles on it. Received notification of potential frame rust problems one or two times over the past year or so. Didn't really consider doing anything about it as I figured I be getting a new vehicle in a year or two and having spent most of its life in VA it couldn't be that bad. Had some free time last week so decided to take truck in to catch up on other recall work (leaf springs, airbag spiral wire, etc). They did frame inspection and said my qualified for replacement. Got approval 1/16/18. Dropped truck off 1/17/18. They said it'll be about a month and a half. Only 2 days of that is actual swap out work. Rest is waiting for frame and backlog of other swap outs. Wanted possession of my truck before ordering the framing saying that if they ordered it and something such as an accident that bent the frame happened while I was driving it they would be stuck with the cost of the frame+shipping (told that cost was about 8K)
At this point I am pondering how much additional work to have done while its disassembled. Truck is in good condition mechanically and interior wise. Body has some dents and dings from being used as a truck but no rust through and shines up pretty nicely.
Read as many of the threads as I could (and there are hundreds) on recommendations for additional work. Don't want "free" frame replacement to end up costing thousands of dollars. On the other hand feel like I'm going to end up with a practically new truck which I will hold on to for more years than I had planned so open to doing prudent replacement of some items.
What is a consensus on items to replace. Shocks?, struts?, suspension bushings? Should I ask and trust service manager for list of inspected items they suggest replacing then pick for that list?
    Thanks in Advance

I'd say replace frame and any regular maintenance items or any parts you feel may be due for a change. Then load up your truck and leave Chicago as fast as you can. :D
