Sitting here at the Toyota dealer wondering if I made a mistake buying a new Taco. Brought in my ride for its first 5000 mile service. Coincidentally, this happened spontaneously on a road trip a couple days ago.

Update after 4 hours of waiting: they tell me they have to submit it to Corp to see if they will warranty the repair. They don't know how long that will take.

Had a 2004 TRD OR that I loved. Traded it for an 09 TRD Sport with a backseat. The 09 traded for my newest after I found frame rot that Toyota would not fix stating the recall had expired. I bought another Toyota begrudgingly as a result. Had it not been for other manufacturers building heaps of garbage, I may have been driving another Ford right now. At least their service dept isn't abysmal.

Do I need to worry about my 2020 4Runner as well?:frusty:

what broke the sunroof? looks like an insurance claim, not sure why toyota would be on the hook for warranty unless it destroyed itself during normal operation

Unless there was an unforseen meteor, it's manufacturer defect. On a freeway with no other vehicles, bridges or grassy knolls.

Spontaneous glass shattering, I had this happen to a Chrysler minivan back in the 90s. Going 70 down the highway, not another soul in sight and POP the very rear passenger window (the ones that only open slightly) just shattered out of nowhere. It was a hot sunny day we had the windows open I'll never forget it. We had like 10 more hours of road ahead of us, so that sucked.
