I currently have two car payments. A used 05' Lexus ES 330 fully loaded and a used 07' Acura MDX fully loaded. I am a car addict and realize after selling my 05' Tundra double cab 2 years ago how badly I need a truck. I went to the local Toyota dealership today and of course they are trying hard for me to buy. My Lexus has a 9,700 debt and my Acura has a 12,000 debt. I want to at least pay off the Lexus with my tax return in March. They have a MGM sb 4x4 sport and a Barcelona red lb 4x4 sport in stock. The 2 colors I'm looking at. What to do? They act desperate to sell but I need to wait til march. I can work overtime to make payments but it will be tight! I'm having a hard time here. Some one be the voice of reason! Also, am I missing anything with the off road package? I really kinda like the sport accents but I may want to four wheel a little (never tried it). This will be my first 4x4!

These guys with the long bed! I realize the long bed is more efficient but living in L.A. County with tight parking. I'm thinking the short bed. I may have regrets at times but, hello bed extender! I don't haul toys. Only camping gear. And my tent trailer hauls most of that. I just need a bed for home improvement stuff and camping.

I hear you brother. This is my one weakness! I have zero credit card debt, but I'm a car addict! It sucks!

Its hard to say if you need talking out of it or not. If you're planning on a $9K tax return you must be making a ton of money, buy what you like.

Seat covers, weather tech digi fit, bug deflector, plasti dip wheels, magnaflow muffler, and many more to come!.. as soon as i get money. Ill probably go broke typing this...
dont put yourself in a spot where you will be stressed. If I've learned anything these past couple days its that you only live once, so dont ruin it with stressful a$$ car payments. Save and pay later. I dont see Toyota running out of tacomas anytime soon.

No...it makes sense...He's clearly living beyond his means.

One car is 6 years old and the other is 8...he is over $21,000 combined debt on his vehicles and looking to upgrade?

OP, at this point, I hope you have a house, and other things that require good credit in order, cause you're gonna be fucked soon.

Yeah I should definitely be able to pay off the the Lexus in march. I haven't had a tax return under 8,000. With my monthlys it should get paid off by march. I could swing it. It comes down to the deal for me. I guess I have to see where they come in on price. I won't do it now unless I'm getting a killer deal! What about off road vs. sport. If I just do a little recreation off roading is sport o.k.?

Itemizing. Keep a receipt for everything you can write off. Easier for some with work expenses to do than others. Medical bills, daycare, etc. It can add up.

Ha. No. 3 kids. I live in L.A. county. I make lots of money, but pay a lot for a house and have lots of right offs for my job. The overtime is plentiful and I only claim 2. So my tax return is is good every year. It would be tight til March, but I could def swing it if I want to work the OT.

If you are getting more than 8k back a year you need to change your withholding. Giving Uncle Sam an 8k interest free loan isn't fiscally responsible. Make that money work for you and not for Uncle Sam.
