Hi, my son who is 16 just bought his first truck!! A Toyota Tacoma like myself and his dad both drive. Well I took him to get it because my husband was working so he told my son what to check for under the hood and what color smoke to look for out the tail pipe. All seemed good to me and my son , until we got it home and power wash underneath it . the frame is rusted through in so many places it's unreal. I called Toyota and they said the warranty on new frame was up last year, help please!!!

Pretty common and widely known issue. Not sure what you're wanting to hear if Toyota already told you you're on your own.

Maybe post some pics of the frame and see if it's fixable.

    You have a few options,
1 obviously is get a different truck. (Probably not preferred)
2 take the truck down to the frame, cut the rust out, and weld in new steel (probably 1/2 inch thick)
3 drive it until it breaks and then sell it for scrap and use the money for a new truck.

Yes they are not the best options, but it's the only i can think of with the warranty being up.

This is quite unfortunate. These trucks are known for their frames rusting out. Any option available is going to cost, in money, time, or both. He could drive it until it breaks, buy a new frame and swap everything over to it, sell it and buy a different truck, or if the frame is at all salvageable, he could cut out the bad spots and weld in new steel.
I wish y'all the best of luck.
