I beleive my wheels are around 4.7 backspacing and I clear 285's pretty good. I think if I had 5" backspacing I would start rubbing stuff. Lol that didn't sound too good.

4.5 or 4.8 are the best, but with 265 5" will work, sport wheels are 5.5 and rub on the inside with 275s...

Any idea what backspacing these have? I'm worried these will cause serious rubbing with 33" tires on a 2.5" lift...

    enough to go over stuff
do the 4.5. The 5 wont give you room for larger tires down the line

I believe those trail team wheels are 16x7.5 with an offset of 15mm. I think that translates into a backspace of 4.8" but I'm not 100% on that Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chim in.

Can anyone chime in about using 33" tires with these wheels? I'm at 2.5" in the front and curious about how much trimming needs to be done. Also what about re-gearing for them? I know they're not huge tires compared to what else's out there but is that common to do with upgrading sizes?

I think a lot of it depends on what 33" tire you're talking about. I have these wheels with stock suspension and 265/75/16 bfg ko. From what I've read it is fairly common to have to chop the cab mount with a 285. With 255/85/16, I think just the inside of the fender well, mud flaps and maybe some of the flare. Again none of this is from personal experience, just what I've read trying to figure out the route I want to go with mine.
