So I replaced my OEM rotors and pads with EBC slotted rotors and EBC Green pads. After a couple hundred miles it started squealing really bad. Usually when the brakes are cold is when it's loudest. It only squeals when I press on the brake pedal. Noise is significantly decreased when warm.

I wasn't happy so I swapped them out for a set of Powerstop rotors and same EBC pads. Same thing...after a couple hundred miles squealing comes back.

So then I swap them out for Brembo rotors and Akebono pads...same thing.

Each time I property torqued all the bolts, cleaned the brake area off, applied correct lube, and followed break in instructions from mfg.

Logical deduction now leads me to believe that it's not the pads or rotors. What else could cause this? I don't know if caliper pistons could cause squeal if they are sticking a bit? Could that be a reason?

    2006 V6 4X4 double cab short bed.

    Please help, thanks!

Toyota OEM brakes for our trucks have shims between the pads and caliper pistons. Have you tried using these shims with any of the aftermarket pads? I had squeaky brakes in reverse for years with non OEM pads. Changed everything back to OEM with shims as instructed and the result is quiet brakes.

Other than using the factory pad shims idk, but instead of throwing your money away on fancy aftermarket parts get a real brake upgrade using Toyota parts that are available anywhere: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-2006-tacoma-brake-upgrade-edited.652471/
A far better upgrade than what you've already tried.

Only when I reverse and press the brake, I hear a loud squeal. I checked the brake pads and they looked good but didn’t know about the shims. I will check on that this week but you think that could be the issue?[/QUOTE]

The aftermarket pads I've tried all come with metal shims so I did not use OEM ones.

Were the brakes squealing when you had the OEM pads/rotors on?

I'd go back to OEM and not waste your money on "brake upgrades"

Did you have a specific issue with OEM which made you steer away from them?
