I currently own a 2009 Toyota Tacoma 4dr long bed. Every time i come to a quick stop it feels as if my transmission is not disengaging to a lower gear and my rpm don't drop down until it releases a few seconds after a complete stop. Whenever it releases it feels as if somebody runs into the back of my truck. Other than than, it shifts smooth and runs fine. So I looked under neath and there was some oil that is splattered on my cab right where the drive shaft meets the transmission. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it? If so, what are the solutions to this problem?

Maybe change the title of your thread. We generally use that for if you're in need of immediate assistance, I.E. stuck somewhere.

Hard to say but I would take it to Toyota or a transmission shop pronto, sounds like a serious tranny issue. Driving around will likely make it worse.

    Easy ones first.
    1. When was the last time you replaced your carrier bearing (center support bearing) and your U-joints?
    2. Are either of those two parts sloppy, loose, or broken?

    3. IDK, take it somewhere. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

The same thing happened to my 2010 sport. The problem was the transmission needs to be reflashed (programmed) it a possibility. But I would also listen to o the other guys. Please let us know when you make out.

I talked to a toyota ceritfied tecnhician and he said the problem occurs quite often. He explained to me that the seal between the transmission and driveshaft is busted and needs replacement.

Thanks for the info man i will look into that. I talked to a toyota tech and he said it most likely is a busted seal on the driveshaft causing the leak and a faulty driveshaft.
