My name is Chris, i'm 33 and I live in southern California. I've been the owner of a 2006 Tundra since I purchased it. Now is the time to sell that and grab myself a 3rd Gen Tacoma. I'm currently in the truck buying phase which is proving to be real difficult deciding on what I want. I will be going with the Sport 4x4 with a 3" lift and 285/70/17's out of the gate. The options that aren't so easy for me would be color and LB/SB as I see pros and cons to both. Any input good or bad would be appreciated as i'm finding it hard to pull the trigger after seeing so many gorgeous tacos on here the last few days. Thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing you all in the forums!

Are you buying it with a dealer installed 3" lift? It would be much, much cheaper to buy it without their aftermarket lift setup and just get one on your own and installed at another shop. Dealerships tack on insane markups for their aftermarket accessories.

Welcome to TW! Be sure to post up pics when you get your truck. Also keep an eye out for local meet up threads for SoCal, there are several here and we're all very active in getting together

I am definetly buying a stock truck and taking it straight to a shop that specializes in aftermarket truck modifications. The dealer wanted way too much for an already lifted truck. I've never done so much homework for buying a vehicle but I want to do this one right without getting hit in the wallet. I'll keep an eye out for those socal meetups as soon as I get to drive my new baby.

Plus many times it's bottom feeder products. They generate the mall crawler look (in trucks). Buyers dig it because they can get it financed as part of the package.

Which means they probably shouldn't be buying new anyway. If they have nothing left over for 'upgrades', they don't have much left over for the rest of unforseen 'life events' either. Which is why the repo biz is lucrative and we have horror stories of being upside down in equity.

Not saying this is your situation OP! But consider @eon_blue s truth. DIY after purchase is a much better value.

I'm what you call an impulse buyer normally but it didn't take long to figure out letting the dealer add the equipment was going to sting and it wouldn't be as fulfilling. Thanks guys for the input I appreciate it and I will for sure post pics when I get it!

The first step to getting well is admitting you have a problem.
