Years back I bought an HID 35W kit from Slimcubby during a group buy. Since then I've only had to replace the bulbs once except for this weekend. One of my headlights was out so I went under the hood and noticed that sound was only coming out of driver side ballast and the passenger side was the side that wasn't working.

I placed an order for the ballast replacement and received them today. Yesterday before getting my package I went for a little drive and noticed that at this time BOTH of my headlights were out and when I checked under the hood sure enough I could not hear any sound from either ballast indicating they were both out. I replaced the ballasts today however the lights still don't turn on and I cannot hear sound coming from either ballast.

So far all I have checked for is that all cables are still connected properly and that the grounds are still secure..What gives?

    Could still be the lamps.
If the electrodes are burned out, the ballasts won't see them and won't fire.

    Have u checked the fuses?

U may have had a failure of a ballast that caused a short and popped a fuse.....

    just an idea

grounds are on bare metal or battery negative terminal?
I always ran em to the negative terminal myself.

and, what Rich said above........... U beat me again buddy!

OP, I suppose u can undo a ballast/HID connector and install 1 halogen bulb to further troubleshoot?
Sorry, I have never run drop in HID headlights before.
