    Hi guys,
Yesterday I saw three trucks dead from frame rust... Since we can't get them from Toyota USA, has anybody considered trying to get a frame from Japan? I happen to have a JDM liteace and get my parts from amayama. The shipping might be harsh, but with a little digging I found a hilux frame for the JDM market listed as 1997-2004.

    Frame for Toyota Hilux, LN172H-CRMQS
    Toyota Hilux, LN172H-CRMQS 11.1997 - 07.2004
    Engine: 5L
    Grade: Q
    Transmission: MTM
    Options: WIB XTR T1 CBU

I'm personally looking for a cheap double cab with a bad frame for a build, but I think this might be easier/better/cheaper than building a frame from scratch.

Not 100% sure, but maybe 99.9%, that the Hilux (overseas) frames are completely different than the Tacoma (USA domestic) frames. The Hilux itself is much smaller, but I don't know whether that translates to a different frame or not.

It looks very different, at least on the parts diagram.

Tacomas are very different trucks than Hilux models from corresponding years & generations. I would be very surprised if the frames were close enough to be easily interchangeable. That said, any frame can fit a different body with enough effort and the 1KZ in my 1st Gen uses the same motor mount locations so maybe you'd get lucky. I'd personally just look for a 1st Gen from a western state without rust, though. Seems like the cheaper and easier route to go in the longer term.
