    Buahahaha!

What's the big deal about buying/installing hood struts?

No one is forcing anyone to buy/install them.

They are a nice option to have and is based on preference.

Good for you. Your 2011 2nd gen is a lot lighter than a 3rd gen hood. I've had both. Some of us can't lift hood very well. I have arthritis and old sports injuries. Everyone's not the same.

Do you really feel that it's that hard to put in the hood prop? My biggest complaint is they could have made the safety catch a little longer.

I had hood struts in my 2009 Hyundai Veracruz. 14 years later they still worked great.
And yes, Gen 3 hood is almost double the weight of my Gen2's hood.
I appreciate a link to the No drill struts. Wife always looks for ideas for presents for me. Sent her the link.

Yes, when you have one compromised hand it is difficult to work the archaic hood prop setup. These trucks have a shit ton of high tech to make driving easier, I don't think hood struts are a stretch to make working on them easier.

Yep arthurites both hands I still manage. For the amount of time I spend under the hood I would rather a case of good IPA's then a hood strut cylinder.

What a bunch of yellow bellied, lllily livered busybodies. Why the hell does anyone need to defend what they do with their truck?

The great thing about having struts is the hood prop still exists, the struts can be quickly disconnected if they're in the way, and the hood prop can still be used. I like having options...

    Spiker FTW. Just sayin'. ;)

These require zero lifting. Pull the release, undo the catch and the hood fully opens instantly.

Do I need hood-struts right now? No - Certainly not. But what if my 4'11" wife needed to open the hood? What if I was out camping and injured? What if it was just easier? I get it if you don't want struts on your hood. Every little ounce counts. But it's on my "to do" list.

Standing on a milk crate is a recipe for a trip to the hospital. Yeah yeah I know "been doing it for decades". A friend who was a commercial roofer for decades fell off a 6' step ladder and shattered his arm and wrist.
If you have to stand on something a milk crate is last on my list as is a 5 gallon bucket. Get the right tool for the job.
