I installed a set on mine a couple weeks ago. I really like them. Did you drill the second hole? I haven’t on mine and it seems fine.

Yes, I did it was easy. I drop one flag nut into hood opening took a magnet to get it out. as you can see, I learned doing to second one and lost one bolt but had a good replacement

This is the first thing I thought about when I bought the new on home. Really Toyota. $20 worth of parts and you still can't get it right by installing them from the factory.

Well it’s more than 20 bucks and as far as I know Tacoma has never had them from the factory.. that’s why there’s an aftermarket for us

Same. Installed the Elite version because what's a few extra bucks.

10 minutes to install, and they work great.

It is just so easy rather then sourcing all these individual parts, have to drill etc etc to save a few bucks. Give Redline my money. Have then delivered in about 2 days. Take 10 min to install and be done.

I’ve looked at both RC and Redline. Redline shows in the video how it soft opens. RC video only shows them holding the hood the whole time it is opening, making me believe it opens / stops violently. One reviewer seems to indicate this.

“The gas shock little bit to strong,I’m trying to find one little slower can you help me with that.”

I prefer RC mounting though so I can use hood hinge bolts for ditch light brackets. Will get one of the two, just not sure which one.

I didn't say Toyota had them from the factory. I can go back and look at what I paid for the ones on my Gen 2 10 years back but it wasn't the $129 they are now or even 1/2 of that.
They know people put them on and they are available why not do that on the new models? They put all the safety crap on like not letting you move the truck if the drivers door isn't latched. You would think that a hood dropping on someone's hand when it slips is a bigger issue.

Well when everyone in the country wants 85 dollars an hour to do their jobs that’s what you’re getting..It’s called inflation and everything was cheaper back then

I swear I read somewhere they are compatible just need longer bolts maybe. I am not sure maybe @RedlineTuning can jump in here.

Yes, our hood brackets will also work with ditch light brackets. My only concern would be the thread engagement of the OEM hood bolt. It depends on how thick the metal is on the ditch light bracket. You could always go to the hardware store and buy a bolt with the same thread pitch as OEM bolt, just longer to insure proper thread engagement with the hood insert.
