Well im just curious of a few things, first is there any way to see how many hours are on a 2020 Tacoma. Next im wondering with extended idle times should oil be changed more often. Im use to my old beaters id buy for 1200 bucks, so being a new truck that cost me every month I prefer to take better care of it. My beaters got oil changes every 3 - 5k miles tops but toyota only does one every 10k on this thing and that sounds stretched to me to begin with. But anyways this truck idles a minimum of 10 hours a day just idle. To me it seems it would probably need a more frequent oil change. Also curious what all else might need maintained due to the increased time. Regardless id say oil change every 3k in my opinion, but no clue.

10 hours daily is quite a bit, 3k intervals might be a good idea

    And welcome to TW

That is a hell of a lot of idle time. I agree with 3k changes if your truck is idling on average 10 hrs per day.

Why? Why are you at 10 hours a day at idle?

Cheap scan tool will get you the hours. Nothing in the heads up display that I'm aware of.

I follow the book for oil changes, so every 10k miles.

    Enjoy your truck!

Edit: Oh...didn't see idling 10 hours a day. Does your truck double as a generator lol. Change the oil much more frequently

Yeah, maily been like this the last 5 months. Didnt think to much of it at first until something shorted out and toyota had it this last week replacing relays and crap. Cost me a small fortune but now it has me wondering if it was caused by me sleeping in it and if so im sure their 10k oil recommended stuff probably dont apply. Last thing I need is the engine dying on me. Guess 3k is the number im going to stick with. But also is there any way to see hours run?

So you run it while you sleep? Why? Please more information.

Welcome to TW. Look in your owners manual manufacturer suggested oil change is different for run time on your engine. If in doubt 5k

Has to be. Man I would consider a propex or Diesel heater maybe one of those ultra quiet Honda generators and a small AC unit. 10 hours a day of idol is pretty tuff on an engine.
