    I agree that spoiler looks retarded on an Eclipse. However, the advantage of a spoiler has nothing to do with how much HP a car has. It simply has to do with the speed the car is traveling. I think it is around 70-80 mph that spoilers start to give downforce, which is needed when cornering at high speeds. I am pretty sure the Eclipse can easily achieve those speeds.

    Decided to google it b/c I thought I knew what they were for, came up with some interesting information:

    While you are right about cornering, the car was designed to handle the speed the mfg gave it.. this kid threw an exhaust on and it's automatically faster which means he needed a spoiler for all the hp he gained
