Can someone tell by the photos how this was lifted? I looks like stock everything and just the preload is jacked up. It rides like it. There is no spacer above the shock.
    It's a 2014 TRD Sport Double cab

    Thanks

Those look like 5100 shocks on stock springs.

What he was saying was that it looks like bilstien 5100 shocks…..you can adjust those if you use the stock spring. That looks like what happened here and is causing a crappy ride, I had the same thing in my 4runner.

Do the shocks and springs need to be removed to reset the circlip?

If you look at instruction sheet or info on those shocks you can see the ride height gain approximately by the different clip settings. I couldn't tell spring type by looks but some may be able to.

Yeah, I should have said most likely about having to remove the assembly to change the settings but maybe there's a trick :notsure:

It's not that difficult to remove them but compressing the spring is a different story.

those are 5100s set on what looks like the 4th highest setting, which could make them ride harsh. You do need to remove to change the setting, but it's not a terrible job. You need spring compressors ($50 at napa) to pull the top hat, remove spring, move the circlip and reassemble. Can be done in a couple hours.

If you want a better ride, buy new springs with your chosen lift height and re assemble with the clip at the bottom.

Just get OME 885 springs to replace the preloaded ones.

Looks like some old worn out 5100's. Can lower the clip setting for a more comfortable ride. Or replace the shocks and coil springs.

No need for a spring compressor. You can use the weight of the vehicle and a jack to compress the springs. I did it the same way this guy did and it worked great.

I like this procedure alot for compressing and de compressing springs. I have used loaner spring compressors back in the day very risky business 1 slip and you'll get a spring too the face.

No need for a spring compressor, just swing the LCA down and outta the way. use the weight of the truck to compress the spring.
