I took my truck in today for my 4th oil change under my Toyota care today. After reading a couple of posts about guys not having their oil filter changed, I decided to take a pic of the serial # on the top to confirm that it was changed. Well, I got home and decide to check the fluids and filter and guess what I saw......

I loved it, I laughed out loud. I will not need to take pic of my filter when I go in for my last oil change in 5 months, she is already nice and marked for me.

Honestly, my dealer is great. Today is was raining here in AZ and I noticed one of my wipers was starting to tear, they threw on a new set for me. My cabin filter was a little dirty, new one, no charge. The oil is always filled perfect, I have absolutely no complaints ever with my dealer.

I thought some of you might get a kick out of it like I did. I really enjoyed the little smiley face and the small seal that was added by the tech.

If more dealers were like that I wouldn't avoid them like the plague. It's hard to trust ANY of them after the stories you hear about some of them.

Earnhardt Toyota. They also beat Camelback's price for me when I ordered a color matched front grill surround.

Some techs like to "sign" there work to show that they did the work in case of a comeback. Contrary to belief most Toyota dealerships do great work. If you read every bad thing on the net and form an opinion based on that you would never leave the house. Everyone bitches when something goes wrong but no one posts when everything is right, it's just not entertaining I guess.

Thanks OP for the refreshing post! :)

Dripped his paint pen onto the housing?!

I'd be back there soooooo fucking fast and let them have it, that kid would wish he never applied there. Kidding!

Seriously, that shows he takes pride in what he does. He'll be a good mechanic

How do you know he isn't a tech? Our dealership all the techs do oil changes.

I think its great, but don't let your guard down. It proves you got a good tech. The next one may not be as quality oriented. Cause the one who just did your smiley will either have been promoted or working somewhere else.

So, the ASE mechanics do LOF at your facility?

Every dealership's service department I know of has young aspiring mechanics to do that stuff, not ASE guys.

Canada doesn't use ASE techs. We have our own system and we are governed by the government. Basically you can't work on vehicles unless you are licensed by the province. All apprentices also have to be registered and work under a licensed tech. All of our techs do service work and customers can request that "Dave" only works on my vehicle, even if it's just an oil change. Apprentices will do less challenging work and do more of the service work if "Dave" is busy doing a money making job but Dave will still do a service if his customer only wants him to do it. It develops a trust between the customer and tech.

Should have added, there are ASE techs in Canada but they are very few of them. You can get ASE certification but it's something that doesn't happen because the workforce is government controlled.

Ahh. I didn't catch you're up North :canada:

If I asked my local dealer service to have the ASE mechanic change my truck's oil, the service adviser would politely invite me to have sex with myself. :)

Our dealership looks at it differently. When a tech is doing a service he is looking and doing the checks to make sure everything is right. This keeps customers safe and makes cash for the dealership because we find more work. We work by the hour not flat rate so tech's spend time to get it right rather than get in/out and quickly as possible.
