Maybe it's just me, but I can't figure out the procedure for attaching the trim that goes on the outside of a late Gen1 driver bucket seat (see image). When I try to install, I start bending clips and I'm afraid I'll break them.

    What's the trick here?

I just did mine. You slide it rearward ( there’s a slot I believe) and pop the front tab into keeper slot. Put the one screwed in and done.

I had the same issue with bending the the plastic tab attached to the trim. It's been a while since I did this. I think I ended up putting the metal clip onto the plastic tab first, then pushing the trim into place. I do know that if I ever had to take it off and put it back on, the plastic tab on the trim probably would break off from being weakened.

Is this on a late Gen1? Mine does not work like that at all.

    That works too, probably better.
That way the tab is supported by the clip. You should be able to pop it in the slot with just the palm of your hand…if is lined up.

This man’s seat trim reinforcement is one of the best upgrades I have done to my truck.

First the handle through the hole, then push it all the way back and hook around the little tab in the back and screw it down.

Follow up: I watched a number of videos and read up on this. I managed to install it, but not without breaking the forward-most clip off (which was my fear). Regardless, the trim seems secure enough, at least for now. It's a rather terrible design. Thanks everyone.
