I just changed the map & dome bulbs to the tacomabeast kit, and now my interior lights dont work! I started to panic thinking I pulled something loose & caused the whole roof or ceiling wiring to short out! but after a little fiddling around I noticed that, If the map light AND dome lights are ON then the whole thing works if I shut 1 off then none work! PLEASE tell me its a fuse issue. and I didnt destroy my wiring! I need HELP PLEASE! THANKS IN ADVANCE

First thing I'd do is check fuses. If they are ok put regular bulbs back in and see if they work. Also, some, but not all, leds are polarity sensitive so they might be in backwards. Not sure on yours.

Thanks! and yes, I checked polarity 1st thing, the lights work if all the switches are "on" but seem very dim.
are these lights that sensitive? Its too dark now gonna check fuses in the morning!
Q: where is the fuse for the dome & map Lights?

A little more backGround, it all happened when I was Installing the domeLed bulb.I tried adjusting it to straighten out/direct the lights in to a better position, the it just stopped working! I paniced!I pulled it out & flipped it around( polarity But nothing! ugh! I tried the og bulb nothing. then I went to turn on the map lights for more light cause its getting dark now! & I noticed that the dome light started working! if I shut the map light off the dome light goes out too & vice versa. Im hoping its a fuse since the leds work ,but are very dim. Thanks again!

I have a 3rd gen and it's under the drivers side dash. Not sure if it's the same on 2nd gen. If they are working sometimes it doesn't sound like a fuse. Did you try changing polarity on all the bulbs or putting all the old bulbs back in?

Just take your time. You'll get it when it gets light out. Dont think you fried any boards or relays. Should be direct to fuse.

Also. @caribe makaira is a genius when it comes to the Tacoma electrical systems and also has a 2nd gen. Maybe they will have ideas for you.

Did you get this worked out yet? I tried to upgrade map/dome to LED today.

Got the map lights to work, then went to try the dome. I could not get the new LED, nor the old original bulb to work. Not my map lights are not working as well.

    Thanks!

Yes! the dome light i bought from Amazon blew the interior light fuse.(i purchased the Led kit from tacomabeast & it worked fine). If your dome light doesnt work try flipping over/around, some bulbs are polarity sensitive!GL

I tried the polarity thing on the dome, no go. My instructions say the dome is does not have polarity, like the map lights do.

Also, forgot to mention, my dome fuse under dash is good.

Check your fuse. IDK where your interior light fuse is( check your manual), mine was under the hood.it was a tiny low profile type(hard to find at pep boys)

Try contacting @caribe makaira, He seemed to know a lot about toyota electronics, though he did think i blew a relay,in the circuit.Try turning on all the lights, map & dome to see if they work, thats what mine did,all switches had to be on to light up, then the fuse blew, I would replace the fuse anyway.

I did, still nothing. Hope its just the fuse. I don't have a 7.5a fuse in my shop. I'll have to run up the street to NAPA.
