Ipad integration!!!

not sure if this is old news or not, but it was definitely new to me!

i was thinking it would be a really unique mod doing an ipad as a head unit. so i was surfing the good ol' inter web and stumbled upon this ipad intergration, and what do you know its a tacoma...

after seeing all that goes into it. i'v decided its not worth it

 

If I do end up upgrading my audio system this is the route I hope to go.

Do you mean work or other expensive components? You don't HAVE to get a processor. It would be the best way IMO but there are other ways.

 

there is a local member that has one mounted in his truck. I dont remember who it was though. Kelson maybe?

IMO an ipad makes a good substitute for a netbook and would be a poor substitute for a headunit.

I would actually disagree. You just need to make an app that uses bigger fonts and buttons for easier use while driving. Make one that has quick links to other apps such as navigation, OBII, Pandora, etc...all the while, displaying the music info in a bar that is always on top with the basic audio controls no matter what other view are in. Plus, you can easily customize the skin to something that matches your taste. And you can always add new features later on (voice control for example).

As much as I don't care for Apple, I would love to use an Ipad 2 as my headunit.

 

My guess at what DevL is addressing is the iPad/iPad 2 frequency response of 20-20KHz and 16 bit resolution. The cheapest Alpine CD deck (list $109) has frequency response of 5-20KHz and 24 bit resolution.

 

how the sound Quality

 

Neither of you could tell the difference...no offense. The human threshold of hearing is 20hz.

 

Sorry let me rephrase it... how does it compare to a regular deck like a pioneer which has alot of good tuning...
