Took my 2015 dcsb Trd OR with 1100 miles TO the dealer the other day cause of a vibration with light throttle between 50 to 60 mph. They said it was tires so they balanced all 4 . Well from the looks of it they had trouble balancing the tires cause there's weights all over each rim and they scratch one rim smh. Well the problem wasn't fixed I ended up fixing it my self . Found the carrier Bearing hold downs loose, tighten it and vibration is gone , I'm glad I found that cause if the drive shaft fell while driving it would have ended ugly

Ask for stick on weights inside the wheel, and as for the scratch. You'll get more.
Wait until you see how the wheel will look when they pull those hammer on weights off.

Had the same thing happen to me with my 3rd gen. Simple fix but poor service. Every wheel except one need less than an Ounce to balance except one that needed 6 ounces! They said they wouldn't replace the tire because it showed to be balanced on their spin balancer. I complained stating that no tire should need 6 ounces to balance when the others need less than an ounce claiming that it was a defective tire. They put it on the road force balancer and determined the tire was out of round. Long story short of it, it took four trips into different service managers to get the tire replaced. Commonsense shouldn't be this difficult

Yeah when you see tire weights directly across from each other that's someone that doesn't know what they're doing. I'd ask for my money back and don't go back.

    Completely unsatisfactory.

Who ever balanced those tires is a moron.

If a tire /wheel needed that much weight there is Sum Ting Wong.

I would take them back and insist that they are re-balanced by a competent technician.

Why I never trust a dealership. I know you took it in for something wrong with the truck and I would have done the same. But that would have pissed me off to no end.

On a side note... I've got the 25k free maintenance on my truck but I refuse to use it. I do all my own maintenance to my truck since I know it will be done and done correctly. When I had my 2011 I took it in twice for the "free" maintenance. I marked one of the tires with chalk just to see if they rotated them. Sat at the dealership for over a hour and they finally got done. Went out and noticed the tires weren't rotated. Asked the guy working the counter if they were rotated and he said yes. I walked him out and asked him "then why is this tire that I marked with chalk still on the front and same side?" he said "oh... they must have missed the rotation. We'll get it right back in". I gave them the benefit of doubt and tried a second time. Marked the tire and same result. Same excuse as before. I told him this was the second time that you guys missed rotating the tires "did you even change the oil or just drive it through the bay???!!!" After that I was done. Free isn't "free" if it isn't even done. I won't let the dealership touch my truck unless it is something that I absolutely can not fix myself.

Most of the time the techs doing the small stuff like balancing and mount/dismount tires are lube techs. Or the flat rate guys get the lube techs to do it for them. These guys get paid a little bit above minimum and are extremely inexperienced or too frustrated about their pay to care about your wheels. Same thing for the myriad of tire shop franchises. I think the only decent place I went to was a Firestone shop a long time ago. For me, I don't think the 2 year maintenance is worth it.

Anyone have any luck with Costco? I always hear good things, that stuff like this doesn't happen there.

That's moronic. This is why I will never, ever use the ToyotaCare plan that came with my truck. No, that's not acceptable - take it back and tell them to do it right.

One of the few places where I see them actually using a torque wrench on the lugnuts instead of blasting them on using the impact gun. Unfortunately, in order for them to work on your vehicle, the tires must be bought from Costco. I don't like their limited tire selection...
