Its a truck man, once you take it off road say good bye to garage, unscratched rims. I would however get them to move the weights

Costco is top notch here in Birmingham, AL. They seem to know what they are doing.

The old 180 degree spin? It works in a lot of cases.

Very pleased with Costco here in Memphis. Also pleased with the Michelin LTX MS2's. Tech's use a torque wrench, and impact only to remove lug nuts. At my request, they do not touch air pressure (I do it at home after overnight and no sun for true cold pressure).

I understand it's a truck but the original problem wasn't fixed and they scratch a rim on a brand new truck put weights all over each rim and didn't put back the valve stem caps on each rim lol ,I don't even have the plates yet

I went back to the dealership around 30K miles, told them I wanted a 30k (scheduled!) maintenance check and they looked at me like I was from Mars. Turns out they didn't have me scheduled at all and I ended up doing it at home. Never again after reading the horror stories on here

I trust no one with the torque and pressure. I always check it myself when I get home. My Costco did a good balance job when I got my last set, but their torque was all over the place, even though they used a torque wrench.

That is shitty, didnt realize it was that new to ya, yea you gotta get at least 6 months before even thinking its ok someone else put a scratch in it. That the carrier bearing , that would have been disastrous to loose. good find

Meh, scratches on your wheels are no biggie. If you're that anal, you probably need to do that stuff by yourself. I'm pretty sure $10/hr workers don't care that much when they are expected to work though so many vehicles in a day or hour. You get what you pay for, man. That's life.

Agreed. When I had my 2011 I changed the spark plugs because I didn't trust them and it's a easy job to do. Not sure why they put copper plugs in the V6 but you have to change them every 30k miles. I can't imagine what they would charge for that job.

Umm... Any scratches that weren't there before I took it in would be a big deal to me. If "I" put a scratch on my truck then it's on me. But if you're paying a dealership to do work (no matter how much they get paid per hour) doesn't matter. The job "should" be done correctly otherwise what's the use in having a service dept?

When not right just add more weight. Oh shit added too much to one side, that's alright I'll just add more weight to the other side. Oops silly me I did it again, let me just add even more weight.

^^ this over and over until your wheels are littered with weight and still not balanced right.
    Good job tire shop Tech!

Not really. You can pay $100 for a rebalancing at a local tire shop and have your rim scratched to shit in the process - which they'll pay to replace if you press them on fixing it.

Freebie at the dealership is no less of a scratch or an annoyance. There's no reason a tech can't fully seat a socket on the lug nut before he pulls the trigger on his impact, or take the extra half second to not smash the socket into your wheel while he's on the way to seat the socket.

There's no industry in the world where it's acceptable to have someone repairing something you own and causing damage to it.
