Jack and Stand

Hey guys
looking to get a new floor jack and stands for the truck... what do you guys recommend??

Harbor Freight! If you’re only using them for light truck maintenance and don’t plan to use the hell out of them than why get anything nicer.

Or the old ones in grandpas shed, those are best value haha

 

There was a huge recall on Harbor Freight 3 and 6 ton jack stands recently so I'd steer clear of those, or at least make sure you buy new ones and check the serial numbers to make sure they aren't part of the recall (shouldn't be on the shelves anymore anyway).

Personally I'd spend a little more $ on jack stands and get the kind that have the safety pins on them, the HF ones don't come with safety pins.

The Harbor Freight floor jacks are great though, have had my 3 ton one for a few years and no issues other than having to bleed it once (normal maintenance for a floor jack).

 

I want a good quality stand and jack... but there is a lot out there...
I was thinking about going to facebook marketplace to look for used ones... but I wasn't if they are garbage or not.

 

the Daytona floor jack’s are great. I have the 3 ton low profile version and it’s very nice. Jacks up easy with a few pumps and releases smoothly when lowering the vehicle.

 

HF had recalls on some jack stands. Be careful. Don’t end up like a pancake!

 

If you want something that would work off road as well, look into the pro eagle. They are pricey but very nice.

I have 4 high-lift craftsman jack stands and they work great for rotating tires and such.

I also have an integrated bottle jack/stand that works well for quicker jobs.

Amazon sells one that also utilizes a pin as a secondary safety mechanism. So you have two methods that safe guards the jack stand from collapsing. There only a few buck more than HF

 

The one on left model a jack . Was at friends house the other day and so happened to show me his modal a jack . I thought it was cool .Neva thought anyone with a mind would think of using those lol.

I have the following 6 ton jack stands that I’ve used a couple times and really like them, I have 3 ton Torin jack stands that have worked great. I like these new stands because they’re double pin:

Only thing I would change is I would have gotten high lift floor jack, the one above goes up to 19-3/4 in., which isn’t bad, but the harbor freight Daytona high lift jack goes up to 24:

HF is fine for a Jack, but jack stands it’s good to make sure they’re good. If a jack fails it’s a bummer but probably isn’t going to kill you, if a jack stand fails, it could easily kill you. I have the AC Delco 6 ton stands and like them a lot. Price was good, I like that they provide more height than the 3 tons, and I also really like that the feet have metal pads on them so they won’t sink into gravel or softer ground as readily.

Those look like a winner for the price, wish the saddles were bigger though
